Tell us about your family (fur babies count!) "My family consists of my fiancé & our small zoo. We have Speedy the tortoise, Boba Fett the guinea pig, Maximo the cat, Anakin the three-legged cat, and Kit Fisto the puppy (and newest member of the family)."

Where do you live? "Shelbyville, Indiana."

What do you like to do for fun? "My fiancé and I like to pick a 'Year Of' theme at New Year's instead of making a resolution. This year, we chose the 'Year of Concerts,' so that's our current fun activity. Next year, we're going to watch 100 movies! I sit on the planning board for our local Relay for Life chapter, and it's one of my favorite volunteer opportunities."

What’s a life achievement you are particularly proud of? "My director assigned me my first fundraising campaign. I have been at my position for less than a year, so I was very honored that she trusted my skills enough to let me run a whole campaign!"
What’s one memory that always makes you smile? "During Relay for Life events, all of the cancer survivors take the first lap around the track. I always smile when I think about the dozens of survivors that have conquered this horrible disease. They usually dance, dress up, and sing the whole lap."

What is one interesting fact about yourself most people don't know? "I love to collect tattoos. Whenever I visit somewhere or meet someone inspiring, I get a tattoo to symbolize their permanent importance on my life."

What are three things on your bucket list? "Learn ASL, visit Italy, have my name in movie credits."
Tell us about your organization: "Charles Major donated his home to the city of Shelbyville in the early 1900's, and it was converted into a hospital per the family's request. The Major Hospital Foundation was formed in 1961 with the purpose of receiving gifts, trusts, estates, and memorials to be used the for the benefit of Major Hospital. We only have two staff members - my wonderful director & me. We are a small community and hospital system, but in 2017, we were able to successfully open an entirely new medical center due to our fundraising efforts."

What’s a typical day like for you?

"1. Cup of coffee
2. Open Raiser's Edge
3. Check Online Express
4. Process any checks or online payments
5. Read the comics in the newspaper

I work for both the Foundation and the accounting department, so I work on whatever projects are presented to me throughout the week. Usually I am preparing for campaigns, events, or payroll."
What’s the best part of your job? "The atmosphere is incredibly positive and encouraging. This job lets me be creative with campaign development, but it satisfies my science background with data analysis. Being one of two people on a team is awesome! I get amazing experience very quickly, because we do all aspects of nonprofit work (fundraising, data entry, gift processing, etc.)."

What advice would you give someone starting out in the non-profit field? "Take the Blackbaud University classes!! I learned so much my first few weeks by just taking the time to complete those courses. I feel confident about the materials I bring to my director, and she's impressed with the market insights and information."

What do you love about the Blackbaud Community? "It is an amazing support system. I wouldn't be able to do half the of the things I can now without Community members. Everyone has amazing experiences that they can apply to your questions or ideas."
Finally, if you had a theme song, what would your theme song be? "My theme song would be the A-Team theme song. I'm always on the move and on a mission!!"
