Tell us about your family (fur babies count!): "I have a grown son who is a lineman and great husband (3rd time is a charm!) who is a mechanic.  We also have an awesome wiener dog named Ellie.  I come from a large family where my father was in the elevator trade and my mom was a nurse.  Four out of the seven kids put themselves through college, for teaching, engineering, CPA, and myself, Information Technology.  We also have a travel agent in the family.  We have often joked that we could create a full service business between the 5 of us.  Based on some of the strong political views in our families, we stay away from conversations that involve seat-belt laws or politics."

Where do you live? "Texas."

What do you like to do for fun? "My husband and I own several toys, including a side-by-side, camper, and Harley Davidson.  We love outdoor activities with family and friends and frequently just get together and have fun."
What’s a life achievement you are particularly proud of? "Raising my son - He is awesome!"

What’s one memory that always makes you smile? "When my brother and I were young at Christmas time, he took a gum wrapper, which back then was foil, and stuck it in front of the Christmas tree lights plug and then plugged them into the socket.  A loud POP! occurred and he had black stuff all over his face and his hair was standing up.  No harm actually came to him other than that.  Good thing it was early in the morning because my mom wasn't fully awake and we didn't get into much trouble."

What is one interesting fact about yourself most people don't know? "I will keep a secret until my death, no joke!"

What are three things on your bucket list? "Motorcycle trip north of Kansas, Stay 2 weeks at a nice beach, Learn to use a chainsaw."
Tell us about your organization: "We are a smaller university included in the A&M System, but we receive no funds from A&M, which people often confuse.  We been working the to increase our endowment and alumni involvement.

Our university is probably one of the best values around, especially to commuters.

It's also not bad working here, especially if you have been working long enough in the system to accrue the awesome benefits I have."

What’s a typical day like for you? "Sometimes I am all over the place.  I have several jobs that I perform everyday from database management/administration, division performance reporting, moves management and metrics reporting, and research.  I can keep myself busy all day and often forget about lunch and find that I have worked through it once again."
What’s the best part of your job? "Most of my co-workers are great and even if the pay in a state agency job is not very good, I often feel appreciated and successful at any task I take on."

What advice would you give someone starting out in the non-profit field? "Don't worry if you don't know everything.  It will come to you in time.  Expect that social interactions are part of the job and remember that listening is part of communication also.

What do you love about the Blackbaud Community? "I really enjoy the interaction and knowledge that is out there.  It's very helpful!"
Finally, if you were a sandwich, what kind of sandwich would you be? "I'd be an Italian sub because I am pretty much a jack of all trades with some humor and opinion thrown in."
