Q: How many data centers does Blackbaud have?
A: Blackbaud has 4 data centers in North America (Boston, MA, Orange County, CA, Austin, TX, and Vancouver, BC), as well as a new data center in Sydney, Australia. These data centers allow us to meet the geographical needs for your hosted applications, as well as deliver the disaster recovery and business continuity solution that works best for your organization.
Q: Who owns and operates the data centers?
A: Blackbaud has chosen Savvis, Inc. and Sun Guard as our collocation providers for application hosting services in the US. Blackbaud leases space within multiple Savvis facilities and leverages their enterprise-class physical, security, and environmental controls to support our application hosting solutions. All equipment (SAN, servers, etc) are located within dedicated cages at Savvis, Inc. facilities and is entirely owned and operated by Blackbaud. Savvis is a stand out and a top choice in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Cloud Infrastructure as a Service and Web Hosting company.
Q: What type of security is in place at the physical data centers?
A: Blackbaud’s data centers enforce strict physical data center security based on best practices and SSAE16 audit guidelines. Physical access and security monitored 7/24/365 by on-site personnel with multiple live-action video cameras, card key only entrance and two-factor biometric authentication to the data center floor. Blackbaud cages are monitored by the Blackbaud Network Operations Control Center (NOCC). There are also power redundancy and environmental controls in place. Our primary data centers are also mirrored footprints of one another for site redundancy.
