Hosting Services Refresher: Printing Using the Citrix Universal Printer

Published
When printing from your hosted application from a Windows workstation, it’s important to use the Citrix Universal Printer (CUP) for best results.  Below we share additional information about this option, which allows for more functionality and efficiency than the application’s default settings.  Please share with your team!

  1. Update the version of the Citrix Receiver. This link will take you to our previous post regarding the new version. When new versions have been tested and confirmed compatible with our hosted environment, we notify our customers through our blog.

  1. Windows users can use the Citrix Universal Printer (CUP) option for printing. The Hosted session only maps the user’s default printer during the login process, but the CUP not only allows you to preview your document before printing, it also allows you to select other network printers mapped to your workstation without logging out and back in. You can also choose the option to print to a PDF document. For more information on using the CUP, including screenshots, see the post, Hosting FAQ: Printing.

  1. If you do encounter any issues with printing, such as your default printer or the Citrix Universal Printer missing from the list of available printers, please contact Support with the name of the application server you are accessing, as this would be a server-specific issue. For steps on finding the name of the application server, see the Knowledgebase solution, How to determine the Application server being accessed (includes demo).

If you have questions or need assistance with printing in the Hosted environment, please contact our Hosting Support team using our chat feature or create a case on Case Central, choose your product, and select the Blackbaud Application Hosting topic. The most important piece of troubleshooting information you can include when you create the case is the name of the application server you are logged into. For instructions on how to find this information, please see the Knowledgebase solution How to determine the Application server being accessed, or our previous blog post on that topic.
