In June 2020, we surveyed our userbase to better understand how their behaviors and attitudes around fundraising, donating and event participation were affected by COVID-19. We also analyzed how small modifications or updates by fundraisers to their personal pages can increase the amount raised on the page.

TLDR: We saw a huge uptick in individuals creating personal pages to raise money for causes they care about last year; even better news is that they are very likely to fundraise again. The more activity an individual does on their page, the more money they will raise. The field is ripe for the harvest!

Individuals who fundraised their own way after COVID-19’s stay-at-home recommendations began were motivated to create personal pages to help a specific charity (44% of those surveyed) or a cause they felt strongly about (23%). The activities included everything from head shaving, to doorstep photography, stair climbing, baking, and giving away items. A huge number of fundraisers also completed fitness related activities including but not limited to running and walking challenges. Almost 40% of those surveyed said this was the first time they had fundraised online and almost 90% of them were likely or very likely to fundraise online again!

Whether you are hosting a campaign with a call to action to fundraise or just encourage individuals to create a personal page as a part of your regular email communications, we expect these numbers to continue to grow. Download our free tip sheet so you can coach your supporters to make small updates to their pages to hit their personal page target.
