Blackbaud University Day: Meet Your Instructor Megan!

Published
Hello! My name is Megan Smith and I live in Brooklyn, New York with my cat, Julio. I’ve been with Blackbaud for over two years, teaching Altru, Raiser’s Edge, and eTapestry. Before becoming a Blackbaud instructor I worked primarily in the nonprofit sector for a museum that was transitioning to a Blackbaud product. I remember being really excited when a Blackbaud University instructor came to train our staff—it gave me insight into the full conversion process and really intrigued me about Blackbaud as a company.

This year, at bbcon 2018 I’ll be an instructor at Blackbaud University Day! Getting the chance to teach in person—where we can be interactive and talk one-on-one with attendees—is what makes this experience so meaningful. Not only will you learn new ways to utilize the database and make your job functions easier, you’ll get the opportunity to chat with other nonprofit professionals who share your same goals and frustrations. This makes for a fantastic day of learning, socializing, and making new connections.

I’ll be teaching a few classes. These sessions are shorter than our typical 3-hour online classes, but they cover all the basics:
  • Altru: Keeping Your Data Clean
You’ll get some top-notch tips for cleanup queries, policies and procedures, and managing duplicates
  • Raiser’s Edge: Creating Streamlined Mailings
We’ll discuss unique ways to utilize the database to generate more efficient mailings
  • Raiser’s Edge: Managing Sustaining Gifts
We’ll identify potential recurring donors and find ways to make changes and improve our sustainer programs
You can learn more about the sessions I’ll be teaching here, and see the full list of Blackbaud University Day sessions here!

Can’t wait to see you at University Day in October!
