Blackbaud University Day: Meet Your Instructor Rich!

INSTRUCTOR SPOTLIGHT | Rich Waldmann
Hey everyone! My name is Rich Waldmann, and you may have seen me over the past year in your Raiser’s Edge, Raiser’s Edge NXT, and K–12 “ON” Products training classes. This October you’ll be able to catch me in person at bbcon 2018 teaching Raiser’s Edge sessions during Blackbaud University Day!
I started working with Raiser’s Edge back when I worked for a K–12 Independent School in New York City. I worked as a frontline fundraiser, event coordinator, a school registrar, and as a database administrator … just to list a few of the different hats I wore. As a user, I learned how to use Raiser’s Edge through classes and sessions like those Blackbaud University offers online, and at conferences like bbcon and the K–12 User Conference. I was lucky enough to work at one organization that had a Blackbaud Learn More® subscription, so I got to take advantage of every possible class offered online and in-person. It was great to not only learn the product, but network and learn how other organizations used Raiser’s Edge to best fit their needs. This is what makes moments at bbcon so unique! The ability to meet and discuss your policies and procedures, learn new best practices, and network is invaluable to anything we can teach in the classroom.
Fun fact … I applied to Blackbaud and became an instructor following sessions I took at the Blackbaud K–12 User Conference in Boston a few years ago. Some of the schools and fellow fundraisers I connected with that week have become my greatest resources throughout my professional career. As an instructor, Blackbaud University Day at bbcon gives me the unique opportunity to be in a room with all of you and learn about your organizations and how you use the database. And it gives all of you the opportunity to ask more detailed questions in person and trigger those Aha! moments. I know I had many of them at the conferences I attended as a user.
