Introducing SKY Reporting!

The original Luminate Analytics platform that we made available through Luminate CRM offered three main advantages:
  1. Speed:  By running queries from an analytical data store, rather than an operational data store, reports run much faster, and don’t slow down the performance of your operations on your LCRM/Salesforce (operational) database.
  2. Reduced Complexity:  Salesforce reporting suffered from the ability to do multi-object reporting.  We put in place JasperReports to overcome this limitation.
  3. Efficiency:  By adding in pre-canned reports in ListBuilder, we provided a set of pre-built templates to accelerate report creation.
  4. Collective Data: By combining data from LCRM and LO; Luminate Analytics provides a repository for understanding interactions from both online and offline campaigns.
However, in our conversation with clients, we uncovered the unfortunate fact that you weren’t realizing several of these benefits of Luminate Analytics, outside of ListBuilder.  Primarily, users just didn’t find JasperReports very user-friendly. 

So, we set about rebuilding Luminate Analytics replacing JasperReports with SKY Reporting… which makes use of the Blackbaud SKY open cloud architecture, and includes a simple but sophisticated, user-friendly interface (UX).  I’m excited to have you play around with it and experience it for yourself and you will, shortly.

Ripping and replacing a reporting package, is not for the weak of heart.  It’s a major undertaking that we’ve been working on for a while… and we’ll be rolling out the capabilities in phases.
Phase 1, will include reports that provide insight into:
  1. Recurring donors: LYBUNT and SYBUNT reports help you visualize how many past donors are continuing to give, to help guide your retention and reactivation effots.
  2. Capacity of existing donors:  Pre-built reports uncover how much opportunity exists for additional gifts from donors who have a higher giving capacity, based on insights from our Wealth Analytics data.
  3. Growth of your house file.
We’re rolling out these dashboards first, as they deliver KPIs  that your executive team is often interested in, when understanding the overall health of your fundraising operations.

We’ll continue to expand on the capabilities delivered through LCRM SKY Reporting in future Phases, but I’m excited for you to give Phase 1 a try.  I think you’ll find it to be a valuable tool in your reporting arsenal, but want to hear from you once you’ve had a chance to experience it.
