How Do You Stack Up To Your Peers?

Published
I found myself doing it again just the other day.  And it’s not just me… we all do it.  I’m talking about comparing ourselves to others.  I don’t advocate trying to keep up with the Joneses when it comes to your personal life, but benchmarking your fundraising performance against your peers can be very useful for your nonprofit organization.

  • How do you stack up against other nonprofits in your sector?
  • What are the areas where your team can improve fundraising performance?
  • What are the giving trends you need to know to successfully refine your fundraising strategy for the rest of the year?

Join me to get answers to these questions by diving into the numbers from the Blackbaud Institute’s annual Charitable Giving Report.  The recording of our Success Session reviewing the report's key findings and giving trends is below.

You can also download a free copy of the 2017 Charitable Giving Report here.

Great info! Thank you Sharon!
I'm also looking forward to the benchmarking tool in NXT.  I have a case open now because we aren't able to view the information at this time. But I always appreciate benchmarking!
Thanks for posting the session recording - very helpful!

I really appreciated the comparisons of like-size companies, instead of a one-size-fits-all approach.
Really looking forward to the upcoming benchmarking tool in NXT. I think this will be interesting for our senior leadership to see.
Chris, thanks for asking.  You can download previous Charitable Giving Reports under the Blackbaud Institute's Resources.  The page includes filters to refine your search by year or topic.  Choose the topic filter "Fundraising" to find the Charitable Giving Reports.  As an FYI, the 2016 results are called "Fifth-Annual Charitable Giving Report", not "2016 Charitable Giving Report."

The Blackbaud Institute's Resources page is also where you will find The Blackbaud Index-UK and The Blackbaud Index-Canada if you are looking for international numbers.

Do you have this information available for past years?
Great information, thank you!
Definitely great info!
Thanks for sharing this, Sharon! Lots of great info and stats here.
