Volunteers?

What? A class on the Basics of Volunteers? Might as well be the Basics of Breathing, right? Actually, no. Though it might seem intuitive, finding, managing, and keeping volunteers is a skill. Furthermore, it’s an important skill that every nonprofit organization should have. Why? The main reason: volunteers save you money. According to an Independent Sector study, volunteers are worth an average of $24.14 an hour. Additionally, volunteers often have specialized skills that an organization doesn’t have. So, it’s a no-brainer why volunteers are essential in the social-good realm. Ready to sharpen your skills?

In our latest course Organizational Best Practices: Basics of Volunteers learn about statistics, motivations, terminology, common barriers, recruiting, hiring, orienting, tracking, supervising, and appreciating volunteers. Don’t let good volunteers pass you by…sign up today!

I think it's great practice to add your volunteers to your database for further engagement opportunities, however our internal policies do not allow us to solicit our volunteers if they haven't already given on their own... not sure how to move that mountain.... I don't have enough clout yet.
Yes

Volunteers are critical to our organization - What we do wouldn't be possible without them! We use a separate system for volunteer scheduling and sign-up that integrates with the volunteer module in RE; enabling us to have everything in one place. It's great when cultivating and stewarding those that give the gift of their time.
We use the RE Volunteer module for our black tie gala, "A Night in the Valley". I have all the individual jobs set up along with the times each person should be at their post. It really helps keep us organized. We have about 70-80 volunteers (mostly) from the college that keep coming back year after year. They actually ask us about when it's time to volunteer and look forward to it.
Hi, We use a seperate system to manage our volunteer data base and needs. But there has been some talk of using Blackbaud more in-depth in the volunteer department to see if it would works. Thank you,
We find it hard to get volunteers to want to assist in our scholarship area.  We are working to improve this next year.
