Using Everydayhero To Maximize Your Year-End Giving

The end of the year is a critical time for fundraising for most US nonprofit organizations. Emotionally, the holiday season creates an atmosphere of giving and people are inspired to give generously to those less fortunate and to the causes they love.  Transactionally, many individuals seek to make charitable contributions before the end of the year so they can maximize their tax deductions come tax time in April.
Nearly 1/3 of all charitable giving happens in December, and according to the Blackbaud 2016 Charitable Giving Report, and in 2016, online giving in December increased for the second consecutive year and represented nearly a quarter of all online giving for the year! Combine that with the power of peer-to-peer giving which is driven by the idea individuals are far more likely to make a donation when they're asked by someone they know. In fact, 1 out of 4 emails from an individual results in a donation, compared to 1 out of 25 from an organization.
The strength of your year-end campaign is found in your most loyal supporters – capitalize on their dedication to your mission by inspiring them to do more than give. Ask your past donors, event participants, staff, board, corporate sponsors and volunteers to launch their own fundraising page on your behalf.

As our gift to you, our we’ve created several assets you can use to help bring more joy to the world this holiday season. Use our year-end charity toolkit as a guide for making this Season of Giving truly merry and bright!  This toolkit includes helpful tips, two recruitment emails, an encouragement email, and social media you can post across your charity channels to encourage your supporters to fundraise for you this season.  It also includes specific resources for your fundraisers including Who to Ask, and 7 Habits of Highly Successful Fundraisers.

For our everydayhero Pro customers, we’ve created 5 festive winter themed templates that you can use to create and launch your own campaign.   If you need a refresher, here are detailed instructions on how to build a campaign using your everydayhero Pro tool.

If you want to use one of our fun templates, simply follow the below steps while creating your campaign.
  • Choose and download your themed template
  • In step 3, landing page creation, select “USE BRANDED TEMPLATE”
  • Update and use the below landing page content in the Page Content section
  • In step 4 use the Supporter Page Banner and Landing Page Banner images we’ve provided
  • Upload your logo where it calls for Campaign Logo
Once you have your campaign up and running*, here are a few tips to help your fundraisers raise more.
  • Encourage supporters to collect donations on your behalf in lieu of holiday gifts
  • Remind fundraisers that all donations are tax deductible, and that many people are looking to make charitable donations before the current tax year cut off, December 31st
  • Of course, say “Thank You!”
Best of luck this holiday season.

If you're not yet signed up for everydayhero Pro, give peer-to-peer fundraising a try using our Warm Winter Wishes campaign.
