Feature Release: Our New And Improved Fitbit Integration

Feature release: our new and improved Fitbit integration

At everydayhero, we’re always dedicated to helping our charity partners grow their events and find new ways to raise more for their cause. Earlier this year, our Australian counterparts released a Fitness App Whitepaper, which revealed that fundraisers who share fitness activities raise more money than those who don’t.  In fact, those who post ten times or more increase their fundraising totals in line with their activity!

Did you know, everydayhero is the only fundraising platform to offer fitness integrations that allow fundraisers connect their fitness activity to their fundraising efforts? And the data shows our integrations with MapMyFitness, Strava and Fitbit ultimately help fundraisers raise more money.

This is why we’re excited to announce that we have released a new and improved Fitbit integration that allows even more granular detail to be captured and recorded on fundraising pages.

Here’s everything you need to know about this exciting new feature release:

What’s new for supporters
Prior to this new release, a user would connect their Fitbit to an everydayhero user account to record their daily totals (such as steps recorded in a day). They could manually add an activity in Fitbit after it has been completed.

Thanks to the new upgrade, users will now be provided with the option to log specific activities, such as their training runs, without having to log them manually. They can now simply use the Fitbit start/stop tracking functionality.

What’s new for charities
Different events call for different options. This is why we’re pleased to offer our charity partners two tracking options that allow you to choose the one that best suits your event.

Option 1:  Daily Totals

This option is most suitable for campaigns that require fundraisers to complete a required number of steps per day or have a daily goal set as a challenge. This option allows users to seamlessly record all their activity over the course of the day and to have the total automatically posted on their fundraising page.

Option 2: Activity Tracking

The Activity Tracking option enables users to record multiple fitness activities per day, which all appear separately on their fundraising page. These activities can be recorded via start/stop tracking in the Fitbit device, linking to smart-track, or manually entering fitness activities post-event.

This functionality is better suited for events where users are training or tracking towards running a goal distance like a marathon, or where users want to post specific training activities to their fundraising page rather than overall daily totals.

Great, so how do I get it?

To minimize disruption with current user activity, all live campaigns have been set to use daily totals. If you would like this to be changed to activity tracking, please contact our support team for help.

To take advantage of this new feature, all new campaigns moving forward will have the activity tracking option available by default.

Happy trails to you!
