I’m happy to announce the scheduled dates and times for the upcoming RE 7.96 webinars. These webinars will include information about what is included in 7.96, what you need to do to prepare for the upgrade, what’s coming next in the release process, and some high level Q & A.

When will the recordings be available and how do we access them? Once again, Blackbaud gives the middle finger to those of us on the west coast. We either have to get up at the crack of dawn or forgo lunch, neither is an option.

Are you by any chance related to a Bonnie Bonino? She is a good friend of mine from North Dakota and qualified for the 1980 Olympics in rhythmic gymnastics. Unfortunately because of the boycott she was unable to attend. Two years later she injured her elbow in a bowling accident and was never able to compete again.

@Sunshine Watson: That information is included in the linked info, but the current plan is to have 7.96 applied to all hosted environments by October 14, 2016.

@Bruce Foulke: I would say there isn't a reason to wait to apply 7.95. The driver behind the 7.96 release isn't correcting any fundamental problems with 7.95, but rather its intended to make it easier for self-hosted customers to ensure that they are processing payments in a way that is in compliance with the forced PCI changes coming in the future. The ability to comply with these upcoming laws and rules is certainly possible in 7.95 (latest patch), but confirmation of compliance involves checking the version of windows installed on any server/workstation that initiates payment processing and confirming certain windows components (namely .NET Framework 4.6 or later) are installed. 7.96 includes .NET Framework 4.6 as a pre-req, so the goal was to put a release out that self-hosted clients could install and know that if the install is successful, payment processing is secure and future proof for upcoming regulation changes.

I would encourage you to take a look at the webinar recording though for more details. We go into depth on that topic and also mention the additional features that are included in 7.96.

My hope is that your organization follows through with the 7.95 upgrade and then looks ahead to determining a time in the not-so-distant future where you can go ahead and upgrade to 7.96 as well!

My organization is about to upgrade to 7.95 (in fact, this coming week). Is there a compelling reason to hold off until 7.96 is released? As I am well aware of the Custom Report/Crystal Report issues with 7.95, is 7.96 going to be any better?

Is there something detailing what features will be new/different in 7.96? We're about to upgrade to 7.95 but might hold off till 7.96 if there's a compelling reason. And I can't make the Sept 6th webinar ...

I'm looking forward to the webinar about 7.96 though. *crosses fingers and hopes it finally fixes the constituent report memory errors finally*

Unfortunately most west coast parties will be unable to attend live since it's at 6:30am or during the lunch hour. I'll listen to the recording and possibly work through a lunch for it but still not great time options.
