We're excited to announce several new features -- some are direct requests from our Community!

Events
Manage check-in classes for event occurrences -- To help you meet changing attendance needs for child check-in, you can now update classes for single occurrences of recurring events. For example, if you expect a higher than normal attendance for an upcoming Sunday service, such as Easter, you can add extra classes to a specific occurrence of the Sunday service event to accommodate extra children. You can also edit or delete classes, such as when you’re shorthanded on staff or volunteers and need to combine two children's classes for today.

To manage the check-in classes for an occurrence, in Events, select the event's name for the date you need to update. Under Check-in classes:

  • To add a class to an occurrence, select Add classAdd to occurrence.

  • To update or remove a class for this occurrence of the event, select Edit occurrence or Delete occurrence from the class’s menu fa-menu.png.

You also have more options for managing classes for a recurring event series. From the event’s record, under Check-in classes:

  • To add a class to a series, select Add classAdd to series.

  • To update or remove a class from the series, select Edit series or Delete series from the class’s menu fa-menu.png.

Tip: You can’t delete a class occurrence that already has check-ins. If you need to close the class for the day, update its rosters so that no additional children can check in.

Note: After you add, edit, or delete a class on a single occurrence, you can't update classes for the event series from that occurrence. To manage classes for the series, open a different event occurrence in the series whose classes haven't been updated.

For more information, see Child Check-in Classes.

Improvements to the check-in station application -- For a better check-in experience and to make label printing easier, we recommend that you always launch check-in stations in the app. The installed application for stations (previously Blackbaud Church) is now named Blackbaud Check-in to make it easier for admins to identify it on their devices. For more information, see Check-in Stations.

View descriptions for events and small group meetings in iCal feeds -- To help congregants stay up-to-date with what’s happening at your church, you can add iCal feeds to your church’s website to display schedules for events and small groups. Congregants can also subscribe to an iCal feed to add church events to their personal calendar apps, such as Outlook or Google Calendar. When events or small group meetings are added or updated, those changes appear in the calendar’s feed after its next refresh.

To make it easier for congregants to find activities that interest them, iCal feeds now include event and small group meeting descriptions.

For more information about how to subscribe to an iCal feed, see Events or Small Group Meetings.

Small Groups
To help small group leaders easily identify participants, the attendance list now includes profile pictures from constituent records. If a participant doesn’t have a profile picture, their initials appear. For information about how to upload a profile picture for a constituent, see Profile Pictures.

Online Registration
When you no longer want people to register for an event online, you can now close the registration form and display a message in its place. Previously, you removed the form from your website. From an event record, under Online registration forms, edit an existing form or create a new one. Under Get Started, select Close registration on specific date, and then select the date and time and enter a message. For more information, see Online Registration Form Get Started.
