What's New (February 18)

Hi Church Community! We hope you enjoy this week's features!

Check-in
Rosters are lists used to assign individuals to check-in classes. Periodically, such as before Promotion Sunday, you may need to update a roster’s criteria, particularly one based on birth date ranges. For example, in 2020, you may build a roster of two-year-olds based on birth dates between 1/01/2017 and 1/01/2018. Then in 2021, you can update this roster's birth dates to 1/01/2018 and 1/01/2019 to include all the current two-year-olds instead.

To update the criteria for a roster, select EventsCheck-in. Under Rosters, select Edit roster from the roster’s menu and update the criteria as necessary.

Note: Children don’t automatically move to new rosters after you update the criteria. To refresh a roster, open the roster’s record, remove all current individuals, and then select Add individuals based on criteria. For more information, see Roster Records.

Volunteers
To keep a volunteer position for historical reference but remove it from the list of positions, such as when you no longer need a congregant to serve in that position, you can now mark it as inactive. You can also mark an inactive position as active if you need to make it available to volunteers again.

  • To mark a position as inactive, select Mark inactive on the position record. When you mark a position as inactive, you will no longer be able to add or remove volunteers and position requirements from the position.

  • To mark a position as active, select Reactivate on the position record.

Note: By default, only active positions appear under VolunteersPositions. To view those positions that are no longer active, select Include inactive.

For more information, see Position Records.

MobileMission
For MobileMission app users, the first recurring gift payment now always processes on the selected date instead of immediately. This change applies automatically to all users — admins won't need to update configuration settings in Blackbaud Church Management.

Donation forms
Configure when first recurring gift payments process for donation forms -- You now have the flexibility to choose whether first recurring gift payments process immediately or on the date congregants choose when they submit the form. Previously, first recurring gift payments always processed immediately, regardless of the starting date set by congregants.

To configure when first payments process, from ToolsDonation form designer, add or edit a donation form. Under Form, select Click to edit on the gift options and select when to process first payments under First recurring payment will process. For more information, see Donation Form Gift Options.

Recurring gift processing options

Add organization gift options to donation forms -- To enable businesses and other organizations to support your online giving initiatives, add the Organization gift component to your donation forms. You can track the organization’s donation in Gift management and their relationship with the person who gave on their behalf under Relationships on their constituent records.

From ToolsDonation form designer, add or edit a donation form. Under Form, select Constituent and gift fields in Form designer, and move Organization gift to a location on the form. For information, see Donation Form Constituent and Gift Fields.
