Here's the latest in Blackbaud Church Management!

Volunteers
To help you more quickly determine if a volunteer opportunity is fully staffed — or still needs more volunteers — you can now view the total number of confirmed and declined volunteers for an opportunity. Previously, you could only view how many volunteers you needed for an opportunity and how many were assigned to an occurrence.

From the opportunity record, under Volunteers, the totals for each status now appear. For more information, see Opportunity Records.

Small groups
To protect the privacy of your congregants, you can now limit the access small group leaders have to contact information, such as addresses and birthdays.

From ConstituentsSettings, select Small groups. Under Small group leader permissions, select Edit to set whether leaders can:
  • Add (and remove) participants from small group records under Participants. With this permission, leaders can access contact details for anyone in the congregation.

  • Access contact info sheets from small group records under ParticipantsPrint. With this permission, leaders can view and print contact details for participants in their groups.

Note: Small group leaders without these extra permissions can view email addresses and phone numbers for participants in their groups. From a small group record, under Participants, they can select Contact from a participant’s menu to email, text, or call them.

Congregation summary
To help you better identify attendance trends for worship services, the headcount averages that appear under ConstituentsCongregation summary include several improvements. With this information, you can make informed decisions about how to engage your congregation or allocate facilities and resources.

Under Headcount trends, you can now:
  • Export the graph as an image in JPEG or PDF format. You can also export the data as a comma-separated values (CSV) file.

  • Select a date range for the headcount trends to view. Previously, you could only view trends by weeks, months, quarters, and years.

  • Filter to only include a specific event, such as a morning service. Previously, you could only filter by category.

  • Set your preferences once, such as filters and time periods and automatically save them to the dashboard. Previously, the filters reset every time you navigated to congregation summary.

Check-in
We tested and now support 3 label printers for check-in stations:

For detailed printer setup instructions and troubleshooting tips, see Label Printers and Barcode Scanners

Events
Now when you add participant options with lists of values to an event, you can sort the values so they appear in order when you add them to online registration forms. For example, if you include XS – 3 XL as values for t-shirt sizes, you can now arrange them from smallest to largest. Previously, they always appeared in alphabetical order.

From Events, open an event record. Under Participant options, add an option and select List as the input type. Next, add the values and drag and drop them to rearrange their order.
