Breaking links in Core

Does anyone have any tips or best practice on when/if you break links from Core to RE, and have the records live only in RE once the constituent is no longer an enrolled student or connected to an enrolled student? This would be recent graduates (new alums) and parents and grandparents that will become past parents, past grandparents? We obviously have way more records in RE than Core, so I'm wondering if we need to continue to manage those records in both places once they are no longer students or connected to enrolled students?

  • Following…we have the same question. A very recent phone conversation with BB Customer Support did not lead to a solution for the best way to manage this, so suggestions on what other schools do would be greatly appreciated.

@Kate Pearson - we let ConnectRE do its thing for parents & students (we haven't turned on for Grandparents and not sure we will). When a parent/student gets coded as “Past” (withdrawn student) in Core they no longer update in RE. Alumni we continue to maintain in Core the biographical information so that syncs through ConnectRE. Alumni Parents are no longer updating in RE as we are not touching them in Core - maintenance goes to RE - they can choose to remove/inactivate Alumni Parents and Withdrawn students/parents. Hope this helps.
