How can I edit queries from last year
Hi…I am new to this position but have found queries that were made last year in RE by the person before me. How can I update them so I can use them for this year? I have looked but can't find an article on it. Please help!

Do you have supervisor rights in RE? If not, you may not be able to edit their query (depending on the settings the other user chose when they created it) but I think you should be able to make a copy if you open the query and go to File > Save As. Then you can make whatever changes you need, such as updating the dates.

Are you an administrator? If the previous person set the query to not be modified by others, you'll have to be an admin to edit it.

. If you have the access you can copy/rename and make changes as you like.I would add that if you are not in charge of the RE database, you should get in contact with the individual(s) who manage it and see that you have been setup with the necessary access for your position.
There are dashboards and queries which depend on settings staying constant and unchangeable.

Seconding what @Larry Wheeler said. If you are the DBM and have Supervisor access, you should have no trouble editing. If you are not the DBM and are pretty green with using queries, you should reach out to your DBM to make sure you are not overlooking anything. Some queries may be linked to other Reports, or other merged Queries, or to Dashboards … and changing the query may change these other items unintentionally.
While copying and saving as a new query is a safer option for the uninitiated, it may be important to have the original query updated, so that any related Reports and Dashboards can also be updated.
