Some frustration with the new grade book updates

  • john ronan‍ Thanks for reaching out. We are working on Previous/Next student shortcuts in the coming two weeks for assignment details to alleviate the scrolling you've described. Regarding the absence indicator, I think it's a fair idea that we can take into consideration.
  • @Nancy Kierstead @Megan Day Happy to share we're updating import to default to the current marking period (for schools that have them). We hope this approach essentially eliminates the chance of accidentally importing without a marking period. Change should be live in days. Thank you for expressing your feedback around this!

  • Ben - will this also default to adding assignments to the gradebook if the original had been added to the gradebook?

  • Jess Moxley‍ Yes -- in the sense that when a marking period is selected, the assignment is automatically added to the gradebook.
  • Hi mary - we have found this too - so a work around is to add the assignment when in the ‘grid’ or calendar view, then the blue dates will show.

  • I just got a complaint from a teacher that she used to [until very recently, I think] be able to see , in the Assignment Center, whether a student was absent that day and , for example, exempt them from a daily ‘Class Participation’ assignment grade.

Is this something else that is now missing? If so, what is the recommended way for a teacher to handle this?

    Thanks.

  • If you scroll over the "A" it will show if they were absent when assigned or due.
  • I see this in the gradebook , but not in the assignment center. Is it possible it never was in the assignment center and she's mistaken?

    Alas…I'm not a regular user…

  • I'm getting complaints from [many of our 89] teachers that they are missing the scrollable list of students on the left of the Assignment Center.

Also, they really miss the alternating white-and-shaded list, which was visually helpful.

  • Oops. previous (re alternating white/shaded rows) should have referred to the gradebook
