As promised, the unanswered Q&A from today's webinar!

I am doing a tracking report for a particular campaign. Some of them are in proposals tab in Prospect tab and then there are gifts in the gift tab for this campaign - which are small amounts and sometimes comes without a proposal. Is it possible to do two queries and combine them or nest a query within a query? How do i do a tracking report for this giving?

Chris>> This would definitely need a constituent export to pull all the data properly. Use a query only to filter the constituents included in the export. Note: with queries I’m always concerned about repeating rows in the output. In the export you can include gifts that are included in a proposal (opportunity in NXT) and also those not included with a proposal. You will likely have to do some creative filtering of gifts not included with the proposal, but it’s doable (either in the export itself, or in the custom report).

Can you please provide specific examples eg. Using Constituent Attribute to group different individuals?

Chris>> You can have the same value of constituent attribute shared on multiple constituent records. Example: have group 1, 2, 3, etc. on multiple constituent records. Then you can pull one/many of these groups into query. You may want to do this for isolating an individual constituent that also has a family foundation, a small business, and some other familial/professional relationships. This may be done to lessen the need to soft credit gifts.

How to exclude specific funds that may have been for "fees" (various years) that were not philanthropic in nature....?

Chris>> Get these fund records into a fund query. Then you can filter them out of reports.

Will the Analysis / Insight be able to mimic Analyze but look comprehensively at revenue? Received vs committed are overlapping buckets, no good.

Chris>> This is a question to ask on a Raiser’s Edge NXT Roadmap session. Definitely add it to the IdeaBank too.

What are some things we can do in RE 7 to make them future proof for NXT?

Chris>> Think about where you are adding data. If you’re using lots of workarounds, attributes (custom fields) know that these are harder to include in standard reports in Raiser’s Edge NXT. Also, exports and custom reports will need to be rebuilt in Raiser’s Edge NXT.

Are all Custom Reports made in Export?

Chris>> For now custom reports start in export in the Web View of Raiser’s Edge NXT (Raiser’s Edge 7). Note: for on-premise customers there are also ways to pull directly from the database (outside of the Raiser’s Edge application). Also, as SKY APIs and lists in Raiser’s Edge NXT become more robust (with more endpoints, ie. fields) in the future there will be more options here too.

Would it be a good idea to run a report using packages assigned to constituents who give in response to a certain appeal?

Chris>> You can certainly run this report. One word of caution: package, as a field, outside of Raiser’s Edge isn’t heavily used. So if you’re only using Raiser’s Edge, go for it.

Suggestion - organized fund, campaign and appeal to include categories

Chris>> Good suggestion! Thanks! Yes, it’s always a good idea to have campaigns, funds, and appeals organized into categories (ie. use the category field). It’s a great report filter field.

Does that mean that RE won't support Crystal reports in the future?

Chris>> Yes. I don’t know when that date will come, but it’s something that will happen in the short term. By the time this happens, expect to have equivalent functionality in Raiser’s Edge NXT.
@Jennifer, yes it will be recorded. Just register for this webinar, and it'll automatically email you a copy of the recording 2-3 hours after the webinar is finished!
I have another Blackbaud webinar at 1:00 pm on the 16th. Will this be recorded?
