How was YOUR Giving Tuesday?

Hey there Community Members,


Just doing a post Giving Tuesday check in to see how everyone's Giving Tuesday went.  Was yours more/less successful than years prior?  What creative and innovative changes did you need to make this year?

For us, not a major success. However, we were executing our first virtual event (annual gala) which took place on GivingTuesday. So my hands were full!


As a shop of one, I just didn't have the bandwidth to integrate GT into the event as I would have liked. But on the bright side, the Blackbaud GivingTuesday toolkit did help me generate some messaging for use during the event and on our social channels! #smallwin

We had sent a solicitation mailer in October, but our numbers were really behind.  On Giving Tuesday, our fundraisers were all focused on our Annual Fund and everyone was prepared with a list of calls.  I'm happy to report it was an overwhelming success. We were able to make up our lost ground and come out slightly ahead of where we were last year.  Our community (PK-12 school) really came out in full force for us!  What a great way to end this awful year!

Not a huge success for us either.  Tons of work prepared for hourly posts etc. Problem came as giving platform we were using crashed nationwide. Came back up and crashed again. We were able to redirect folks to our website fortunately.  But both platforms were found to not the most user-friendly. Number of emails about confusion/selections to make gift. Know a # did not complete process to make their gift.

Our Giving Tuesday went fantastic this year. We got a new match and it really boosted people giving. Our dollar amount went up and also the # of donors which is something we also look at.

Oh wow! Sounds like so much of that was out of your control. With so much hard work on the front-end and then BAM! ?

Our giving Tuesday was a little slow.  We have been having such a difficult time all getting on the same page with people working from everywhere.  We are also down until really recently a communications person.  But overall our fundraising is way up this year.  So a little Giving Tuesday hiccup is not the end of the world.
