Live Event Sites through P2P Just Giving

Has anyone used Blackbaud to host their website for their virtual event? We are looking to host a campaign with pre-recorded videos and like the set up from what we've learned so far from our account manager, but would like to hear anyone's personal experience using it. A comparable option we could find is gives.smart.

  • Hello,

Boston Children's Hospital Trust used Luminate to host a pre-recorded virtual event this past fall.  There were no issues. We used retainer ours for a Blackbaud tech review our setup before the event.  If you have more questions feel free to reach out tabitha.grossman@chtrust.org.  She was the project manager for the project.

    Thanks,

    Linda

  • Hi Caitlin Filiato‍ We have had a few people use the platform to host virtual benefits/galas as well as fitness events. There are a couple of ways to accomplish the goal, each with pros and cons. Option 1: You can create a JG campaign for free and embed previously-recorded videos via the story. PRO: You reduce technical difficulties be pre-recording the videos. They can be uploaded on YouTube and added throughout the event allowing people to feel like it is live by refreshing the page or returning continually, but greatly increasing your viewer experience. CON: These are not live videos so if that is super important, you will need to see option 2. Option 2: You can create an individual page (under the name of the event instead of a person's name) and then embed live video from YouTube via the top header placeholder. This still allows people to give and watch the video content but reduces the features you get with campaign pages (like teams, connected individual fundraising pages, etc). Option 3: Purchase a virtual event package from our professional services team. This allows you to create a customer event home page, host video, have an interconnected hierarchy (like teams for tables or teams for families with individual pages). There are no cons to this option.. other than it is an added cost.

Here are some examples of the options. Hope this helps!

    Option 1:

    Option 2:

Option 3 (these are both over so the pages don't show all the possibilities)

Now.. If you are trying to do a virtual fitness event, I HIGHLY recommend going the route of Professional Services. Their packages allow you to have a roll up of data (like total miles walked for all participants) and creates a much more engaging experience for all involved.
