Where is the most beautiful place you have been and what stood out most to you about that place?

The Cyclides Islands of Greece at sunset were the most beautiful But Eqypt was the most interesting, Turkey the most surprising, Switzerland feels like home to me and I dream of a small flat in Alsace, France to live part time. Who can choose a single place? I base travel on companion, price, length of time available, bucket list and a pinch of salt thrown over the shoulder I miss travel!!!!!!!

I would say the Scottish Highlands due to the natural beauty and peacefulness. I also enjoyed Costa RIca due to the wildlife.3

This is MY topic!
I only started traveling internationally around the age of 40, so I got a late start in life. I was going good - with about two countries a year before the panorama!
The most beautiful place I can think of that I've been to would have to be Scotland or Paris, but both for very different reasons!
I fell in love with both pretty hard, but I've also been to Belize, Guatemala, Spain, Mexico, and Greece. Each of those places also have a special place in my memories and I would revisit each in a heartbeat.

Crystal, i started at age 42 and plan to go traveling until I’m 92, maybe 102! No age is too late to see something new. Happy travels!5

A reply specifically for Katherine Swank:
I have a cousin who has essentially moved onto a cruise ship. She is in her 90s and is always seeing new faces and new places.
So you are correct. Never too late!4 -
I am a water child at heart and so lakes, rivers, and the oceans all stand out for me. If there's changing views along the coastlines, even better! So, the northern California coastline, all of Oregon's coastline, and most of Washington's coast all appeal greatly to me. But I'm always up for Lake Tahoe as well! (I live in northern California.)
Internationally, there's beauty everywhere. I will absolutely second the prior mentions of Greece, and I also adore France. (May I please join in the flat in Alsace, whoever it was that mentioned that?) Did you notice that both of these countries border water? LOL3 -
Heather MacKenzie I am a water child also, and thankfully my husband and son are as well. We spend a lot of time here in Texas around lakes, rivers, beaches, and really any body of water within a reasonable distance. I would love to travel to the California coastline for a different view, although Lake Tahoe is on our list as well. Thank you for sharing!3

I love this idea and heard it's actually cheaper than assisted living...and more beautiful! Cheers to your cousin!3

Crystal Bruce Yes, you are never too old to start traveling! I traveled a lot when I was younger and lived in Germany for a year with my brother when he was in the Air Force. We stayed in a different city or country every month and we made some amazing memories. I was 20 years old and that experience sent me on a lifelong quest for new travel destinations. Although I haven't traveled as much as I would like to in the past 20 years, I'm hoping to once this craziness slows down and my son gets a little older. Scotland has always been on my bucket list...I will have to message you for pointers once I make the leap to book it. Thank you for sharing!3
-
Wow! This looks amazing! I'm adding this to my list now...2
-
Katherine, I have to agree that there are a lot of factors in how you experience a destination. Good point! All of these places sound amazing...Egypt sounds interesting. When did you travel there?2
-
I went there in 2017 with my best friend from high school/college freshman roommate. She called and said do you want to go to....... and I said "Yes" before I heard the destination. It was AMAZING and the only organized tour that I have taken. I could not have seen what I saw and did what I did there any other way. We are still friends with everyone on our tour (12 other people), our Egyptian tour director and Egyptian Egyptologist..... and there's a love story that came from it as well. I was ready to find a partner in life and bought a papyrus painting that looked like love and romance to me. I brought it home and 2 days later, I met my love, mon amour, a man that was everything, everything I had written done on a list of desires 9 years earlier. Layin' it out there - The Secret Laws of Attraction (and papyrus paintings) work! ?5

Katherine Swank - That is beautiful...and sounds like a wonderful trip! Thank you for sharing!3

I miss traveling as well! The local socially distanced staycations are fine but don't hold a candle to traveling!!

So many to choose from! There was something beautiful in every place we visited! Alaska, Hawaii, Greece, South of France, Monte Carlo, Japan, Cuba, Acapulco, multiple Caribbean Islands! On our very last trip, before the world stopped, we spent most of December 2019 in South America, visiting Machu Picchu, the Amazon, and my favorite, the Galapagos Islands!

We finally realized our dream of a waterfront home when we moved to Ft. Lauderdale and live on a canal! Everywhere we travel there is always a water aspect! During the pandemic we have been traveling all around South Florida with our kayak trying out new spots, and we just bought our own fishing gear to add to the mix!

And I don't plan on stopping any time soon! Yeah, we were all forced to take a break this past year but there are many trips to come!!!

Well, now I'm just jealous of y'all! I haven't had the opportunity to leave our continent yet. I was able to visit both Acadia National Park in Maine, as well as Pebble Beach in California the same year, though (2018). Watching your 17-year-old play one of the most famous golf courses with a senior pro is beyond any words. They were both beautiful places. I am always drawn to the mountains, though, so any time I can get to the Smokeys I am a happy girl. One day my husband and I will make it across the pond to visit the UK! I must see where my ancestors are from, for sure.3

When we went to Hawaii, that was the most beautiful place we have visited. Once everything opens back up and it is safe, we will be starting to travel again. Our goal is to get to Europe and explore.2
