Development Assistant - Remote Position
Rainforest Action Network is seeking a Development Assistant to work closely with the individual giving team to provide support for the organization’s fundraising efforts. The successful candidate will be committed to fighting climate change, ending deforestation, and upholding human rights. They will be excited to support RAN’s special events and fundraising efforts and interface with donors that want to learn more about RAN’s work. This position will be an integral member of the fundraising team, supporting the department through special event project management, donor services, research and coordinating donor engagement opportunities for this mission-driven organization. This position will be managed by the Individual Giving Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Development Support and Duties:
- Monitor and respond to donor requests received via email and phone (solicitation changes, sustainer updates, donor info updates, etc) and field high level questions (programmatic, system issues). Develop standards for responses in coordination with the Editorial team.
- Support in project managing and coordinating special projects including mailing campaigns, thank a thons, donor gatherings, etc.
- Working with internal and external contributors, coordinate annual filings for state registration and donor transparency groups (Guidestar, BBB Wise Giving).
- Update donor records with any changes or outbound communications and track donor stewardship efforts in database and provide additional data entry support as needed.
- Coordinate team meetings and retreats, including agenda development and assigning roles.
- Support gift acknowledgement process.
- Order and maintain paper stock.
- Open and process mail (if based in SF office only).
Special Events:
- Support the design and execution of all development fundraising events, both virtual and in person (as covid allows).
- Manage event production and logistics for our annual fundraiser, REVEL. Activities include managing auction(s), developing donor and sponsorship communications, working with the digital team to develop marketing and promotions, and tracking (attendance, budget, follow-up activities).
- Oversee logistics leading up to the events, working cross-functionally with Development, Communications, Executive and Digital teams and managing day-of event logistics.
- Lead efforts to secure in-kind donations and support event sponsorship requests.
- Coordinate outreach and info-sharing on staff support roles as needed.
- Create sponsor, in-kind donations and ticket sales reports and updates for stakeholders.
- Evaluate events with collective feedback from attendees, Board and staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience providing administrative support, research and data support in a non-profit environment
- Strong time and project management skills; ability to prioritize projects and tasks, and assess and deploy resources
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office and Google suites; Previous experience with Raiser’s Edge or similar database strongly preferred
- Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines
- Self-starter, motivated, and able to take initiative in all situations; ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial and inclusive environment
- Team player with exceptional interpersonal skills
- Interest in RAN’s mission, environmental issues, human rights and racial justice
