Do you identify with your Persona?

I just finished reading a neat-o generational profile article from RKD Group. The article featured Gen X'ers, specifically how they don't identify with their public image. It came along with this lovely little infographic featuring personas of the four main generations.

Infographics are averages, and so there's always something that doesn't quite fit us as individuals. I'm a Millenial, and share the typical Millenial attitudes, but I behave more like a Gen X'er in my donation habits and core values.

So I'm curious, especially to all you Gen X'ers out there – do you feel accurately portrayed by your generational Persona? Shout it out!

  • Interesting infographic tying our personas to our donor habits! My attitude and core values and match most with the younger gen x persona, my giving habits match most with the millennial persona, even though my age places me in the older gen x persona.

  • Wow - this is really interesting. This says I'm a younger Gen X but I really straddle younger and older and I fall into both in different ways. My attitude is more younger but my core values are more older. I mostly only give to nonprofits where I've worked or volunteered so the rest of it is kind of out the window for me!

Very interesting! I am a Baby Boomer, but a self-reliant, adventurous one with millennial giving habits.

  • I'm older Gen X, it's pretty accurate. I don't agree with the preferred channels of giving, I don't want to do anything by mail. I also have friends from diverse backgrounds but then again my family is pretty diverse too. When we get together at my sister's house, we jokingly call it the UN.

This is so interesting! I like being referred to as younger Gen X. ? The NPOs are a mixture of both Gen X for me. As for the core values, I lean toward the older Gen X with responsible and stability, although when it comes to tech I always want the new toy (even though I rarely get it!). I think I'm a good mixture of both parts of Gen X, I guess.

  • I am older gen x but identify more with younger genx. It was a fascinating graph though.

  • I am the older Gen X group but definitely identify with the older generations. Raised to by responsible, thoughtful, generous, faithful, etc.

  • Super interesting. The millennial one is dead on for me. Large number of causes supported (probably just clicking a link and donating a small amount when the feeling hits). Especially like that they singled out cause-sensitive stocks as a new area that millennials have become interested in.

  • I must be doing something wrong because I don't think I know any of these people :|

  • Although I am an older GenXer myself. I am the youngest child of large family and my parents were from the Greatest Generation so I have more identified in many areas with the Boomers. However, I'm have far more liberal views that most of that generation valuing diversity greatly.
