San Diego Humane Society is hiring a Full-Time Digital Communications & Philanthropy Manager for our Philanthropy and Communications team!
SUMMARY: The Manager of Digital Communications and Philanthropy is responsible for the oversight of San Diego Humane Society’s digital communications and fundraising platforms, these include but are not limited to Blackbaud Luminate Online and Blackbaud Luminate CMS which powers SDHS websites, online giving and e-communications. Additionally, the Manager of Digital Communications and Philanthropy will serve as the primary web administrator responsible for maintaining the content and structural integrity of SDHS websites, monitoring and evaluating web performance via Google Analytics, improving SEO, and maintaining the Google Grant and Paid Ad accounts. This position will directly supervise the Digital Communications Specialist – Online Giving.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following; however, other duties may be assigned:
WEB ADMINISTRATION & ONLINE GIVING
- Responsible for development, implementation, optimization, functionality, management and maintenance of SDHS’ websites and web This includes, but is not limited to, sdhumane.org, sdwalkforanimals.org and sddayofgiving.org.
- Proactively administers digital content management systems, including completing regular content and data maintenance to ensure the integrity, accuracy and optimum integration of digital platforms like Luminate CMS, Luminate Online and MindTouch.
- Stays abreast of SDHS software applications such as MindTouch, Adopets, Setmore, ShelterBuddy, Mindbody, Microsoft Teams, WooBox, etc. to ensure seamless integration with the website and other SDHS digital platforms.
- In partnership with the Digital Communications Specialist - Online Giving, ensure accurate receipting and stewardship of all online gifts, refreshing auto-responders and thank you pages quarterly.
- Manages quarterly review process and updates web content in collaboration with communications staff partners.
- Routinely reviews websites to ensure accuracy of text (content, style and grammar), functionality of links, and that content is refreshed, and makes edits/updates as needed or requested.
- Manages applicable website redesign projects working with external consultants and internal teams.
- Monitors web traffic, manages the development of web content among internal contributors and maintains web Ensures all websites achieve SDHS organizational requirements, i.e. operating hours, FAQs, program and services info, calendar of activities, etc.
- Annually builds the TeamRaiser websites for the Walk for Animals – North County, Walk for Animals – San Diego, and San Diego Humane Society Day of Giving.
- In partnership with the Digital Communications Specialist - Online Giving, update, maintain and promote the Create a More Humane San Diego™ year-round Peer-to-Peer fundraising platform.
- Stays current with web design trends and best practices.
DIGITAL MARKETING
- Manage, monitor, evaluate and optimize usage of Google Grant and Google Paid Ad accounts.
- Regularly evaluates Google Analytics to interpret and present tracking reports to better understand online user traffic, methods to increase web use for individuals seeking answers to their questions or solutions to their problems, new opportunities and methods to maximize fundraising, awareness and effectiveness of programs.
- Provides continual optimization of content, search terms and keywords for SEO friendly web pages.
- Proposes and implements ideas for website features, promotions, organization of content and the integration of digital content across platforms.
LEADERSHIP/TEAM MANAGEMENT
- Serves as a resource and back up to the Digital Communications Specialist - Online Giving in the maintenance and utilization of the Luminate Online digital communications Includes but is not limited to creating and deploying email in Luminate Online in support of external communications, fundraising campaigns and donor stewardship efforts, and other objectives as needed.
- Serves as a back up to the Digital Communications Specialist – Social Media for the management, maintenance and utilization of San Diego Humane Society’s social media accounts, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and TikTok.
- Develop and maintain good internal and external working relationships, including by communicating effectively and professionally with co-workers, management and the public at all times.
- Support efforts to nurture the growth and development of staff and volunteers and a coaching culture that promotes personal and organizational advancement.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises the Digital Communications Specialist – Online Giving.
SALARY: This is an exempt position that starts at a salary of $65,520. The salary is determined by a candidates related experience & education.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, SKILL, EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent formal experience in marketing, communications, or a relevant field, with at least five (5) years paid experience as a web administrator managing an established, professional website and/or managing online fundraising platform or other online content production software. Minimum 3 years supervisory experience preferred.
Possess current knowledge of web publishing, ability to understand and interpret metrics and usage patterns, a strong working knowledge of SEO, HTML, CSS, Google Analytics, Google Data Studio and Google Ads. Web developer/administration, domain management, and extensive CMS experience is preferred. Google Ads, Hubspot, or DMI certifications are a plus. Demonstrated excellent written, verbal and organizational skills. Excellent critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to demonstrate discretion, professional judgment, and support for company decisions. Must read, write and speak English language fluently. Spanish language skills a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Understanding of social networking and social media as it relates to fundraising is preferred. Committed to quality; organized, accurate and meticulous attention to detail. Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities and meet fast-paced deadlines in a growing organization. Capacity to collaborate across departments and seek cooperation from others. Passion for and knowledge of animal welfare issues preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to stand, walk, sit, talk and hear, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, grasp grip, put fingers together firmly and reach above and below shoulder level and lift, push or pull 25 pounds for situations of moving supplies and equipment, repetitively use hands to operate computers; flex the neck upward and downward; twist the neck and the waist. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Standard office environment, with exposure to environmental conditions that include working near animals. May be required to drive to all campuses and offsite locations for special events. Will work some nights and weekends.
