Position: Senior Director of Campaign and Major Gifts

Department: Advancement

Reports to: Vice President of Institutional Advancement

Summary

The Senior Director of Campaign and Major Gifts serves as a leader on the Advancement team by directing BC High’s upcoming comprehensive campaign activities and leading and growing the school’s major gifts initiatives. The Senior Director will manage campaign activities and volunteer committees in collaboration with the VP of Institutional Advancement (VP), BC High’s President, Board of Trustees and other key constituencies.

The incumbent will be a strategic partner with the VP in creating strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward donors to maximize philanthropic revenue in support of BC High’s mission with a focus on gifts of $50k-$1M+. In addition to managing a portfolio of prospects, the Senior Director will supervise leadership giving to significantly grow giving at the $1,000 - $10,000+ levels in a campaign environment.

Key Priorities for this role include Drive strategy for growth and acceleration of capital campaign ● Lead campaign-specific activities for BC High relating to direct fundraising and oversight/execution of a campaign master plan

● Manage all elements of campaign committee efforts, including preparation of agendas, meeting follow up, volunteer management and major gift strategy planning

● Collaborate with Sr. Director of Alumni and Parent Engagement and Director Donor Relations and Special Events to create and execute campaign cultivation and stewardship events, local and regional alumni events, and major campaign milestone celebrations

● Collaborate with Sr. Director of Development to create robust campaign reporting and dashboards for internal and external constituencies

● Collaborate with VP of External Relations to coordinate campaign messaging and communications

● Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of 75-100 donors with a focus on gifts of $50,000 - $1M, setting and meeting annual, major and planned gift objectives for each prospect under management

● Under the guidance of the Vice President, create funding opportunities for priority institutional initiatives Build a culture of collaboration and achievement

● Model Advancement team values of collaboration, teamwork, professionalism and mutual respect to build a culture of trust within a high performing team

● Manage the team (currently the Director of Leadership Gifts) to meet fundraising objectives, establishing performance goals and expectations and offering regular feedback and coaching

● In collaboration with Advancement colleagues, identify new major and leadership gift prospects to continue building a robust pipeline throughout the campaign

● Develop strategies for meaningful cultivation and moves management of donors, collaborating with School and volunteer leadership, faculty, and colleagues as appropriate

● Achieve personal and team fundraising metrics as established with the VP including donor calls, in person and virtual visits, solicitations, and dollars raised Engage in the community of BC High

● Engage with BC High community to stay current on key happenings and the School’s strategic direction

● Manage budgets to meet expense goals in assigned areas

● Serve as an ambassador for BC High’s Advancement department to colleagues within the school community as well as local, regional and national events

● Other duties as assigned; travel and some weekend/evening work is required

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree and 7-10 years of professional front-line fundraising experience with demonstrated success in meeting fundraising targets and securing gifts at the $50k-$1M level

• Knowledge of industry best practices and demonstrated commitment to the profession

• Exceptional writing, communication, interpersonal skills and a sense of humor • Experience managing other fundraisers or professional staff

• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, digital communication tools, and databases is required, proficiency in Raiser’s Edge fundraising software is preferred

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across internal and external constituencies

• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects with high attention to organization and detail

• Ability to travel and work outside of regular business hours when necessary
