Banner integration with Blackbaud Award Management

Jennifer Riordan

Good morning -

I have been asked by my IT colleagues to help identify peer schools that have successfully developed an integration between BBAM and Banner systems. They have reviewed the available API documentation but have questions and would prefer to speak directly with those who have found a way to make it work.

Thanks in advance!

We do a push up to Blackbaud Award Management every day with our Banner data. I'd be happy to show your IT department how we have it set up.

I've set up my own system to transfer BAM Data to Banner and Banner Data to BAM.
in short

I use the BAM Fund Disbursements API API to extract ‘Offers’ for the award terms
I then take that file and import it into a custom banner table to process.
I have a SQL Script that reads this table for annual awards…ignore anything that has already added with the same amount… add new ones, updates anything with a changed amount into RPRAWARD
This uses the Banner RP_AWARD API
I have a similar process for term based awards RPRATRM using the rp_award_schedule api
The script also generates reports of what has been done.
I have another process that looks at those awards that came from BAM in the last x-days that have been accepted, canceled or declines, and creates exports them into a file.
I use the BAM FundUpdater API to push these into BAM

Your going to have to spec out what you want to achieve.
Because Banner is out database of record, we wanted all the student choices to happen here (Accept, Deny, Cancel), as well the fact that other financial award are in Banner other that scholarships.

If you are using Atomic UC4...there is a document and code in BAM ...where the API's are listed.

Site → Settings → Import and Export Tools

At the bottom is a link to the API Documentation

at the bottom of the Fund Disbursements API is a link to ISU Documentation with Atomic UC4 complete with code

@Victor Swindell. We are about to embark on implementing BAM with Banner 9, any wisdom nuggets to share?

@Princess Lipscomb - I have posted my documentation… I will probably update some of the other detail including the reporting that it also produced.

@Victor Swindell
Would you happen to know why my data file (csv) from AW is contained in my log file in Automic when I run my curl script? I run it on the command line and the csv appears in the folder on my server. curl -g -o "/u01/app/applications/Academic_Works/from_AW/AWAward.csv" 'https://tjc.academicworks.com/api/v1/disbursements.csv?c[]=award_period_name__contains__FA24&page=1&per_page=1000&fields=form_field_2,form_field_1,user

@darcelle cowles do you have this in a bash script that you are executing from ATOMIC.
I'm doing that…and my files are created where I stated…this looks correct
