Gifts Specialist for Coe College - Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Coe College seeks a highly organized and detailed-orientated individual for the position of Gifts Specialist in the Advancement Office. This position is responsible for the recording, maintenance, and accuracy of all gift data provided to the college by alumni, parents, and friends.

Coe College is a selective, private, nationally recognized four-year coeducational liberal arts institution providing superior educational experiences for students since 1851. Coe's residential campus is located in Cedar Rapids - Iowa's second-largest city - and only hours from several major cities like Chicago, Minneapolis, Omaha, and St. Louis. Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain the configuration of gift accounts.
  • Receipt all donor gifts, compose and mail thank you letters to donors.
  • Record, maintain all non-cash gifts, gifts in kind, matching gifts, compose and mail thank you letters to donors.
  • Maintain all donor pledge data and issue pledge reminders.
  • Provide timely internal gift transmittals and reports as requested.
  • Reconcile monthly and year-end gift records with the Business Office.
  • Develop and execute regularly scheduled and ad hoc queries to evaluate the integrity of the data information.
  • Research and propose improvements to database and gift records procedures.
  • Act as a liaison to the Business Office.
  • Back up in all areas of Advancement Services, as needed.
  • Document and maintain gift-related processes and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience in database entry and management, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven understanding of basic cash flow, reconciliation, and accounting procedures.
  • Advancement experience in a higher education environment and experience with relational databases are highly preferred.
  • Successful completion of a background check in accordance with Coe College policy.

  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently within the given direction and collaborate with others in support of departmental objectives.
  • Proficient in The Raiser’s Edge NXT and Microsoft Office applications with a strong command of Microsoft Excel. The Gifts Specialist works primarily in database view but should also be comfortable in web view as well.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and review work for accuracy.
