City and Country School, one of the foremost progressive schools in the country, seeks a full-time Database Manager and Development Coordinator, beginning December 2021.

City and Country is an N-8 school founded by legendary educator Caroline Pratt in 1914. The School currently enrolls approximately 340 students and is located in the West Village of Manhattan. Job Description

The Database Manager and Development Coordinator reports to the Director of Development and is an integral part of the three-person Development Office. This person will manage the Raiser’s Edge database, and extensive experience in Raiser’s Edge is required. The ideal candidate is analytical, tech-savvy, and detail-oriented, while also being mindful of the importance of building meaningful relationships with the school’s various constituents. This individual is responsible for ensuring high standards of quality, consistency, and accuracy across all development records and research reports. The position is broken down into approximately 75% database work and 25% other administrative work.

Responsibilities

- Data management:

- Develop and follow policies and protocols for data entry, prospect management, accuracy, and

data management.

- Ensure accurate and standardized input of all data (e.g., address changes, business

information, and other updates).

- Perform periodic maintenance to ensure that data is up-to-date, accurate, and de-duplicated,

and that best practices are being implemented and documented.

- Gift entry:

- Record all incoming donations, export gift detail reports, and reconcile gifts with the Business Office.

- Produce weekly gift acknowledgement letters for signatures and oversee emailing them to donors.

- File gift documentation.

- Raiser’s Edge Reports:

- Pull segmented mailing lists for solicitations and correspondence.

- Design and run regular reports on annual giving and/or major gifts status, prospect

management, and constituency-specific giving status.

- Prepare all CASE, NYSAIS, NAIS, and similar surveys and reports.

- Other Raiser’s Edge responsibilities:

- Conduct Target Analytics research yearly.

- May include using NXT and working on various integration projects, for example, between

Raiser’s Edge and Financial Edge.

- Events:

- Record and track RSVPs for events.

- Have the flexibility to work at 6-8 evening events per year and 1-2 weekend events.

- Main point of contact between the office and Diamond Mind, a credit card processing company.

- Other administrative duties as needed.

Requirements

- Bachelors’ degree or relevant work experience, including three-five years experience working in development and/or data management. The ideal candidate will have experience working in development and data management in an independent school.

- Extensive knowledge of Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge. The ideal candidate will have previous experience managing a Raiser’s Edge database.

- Understanding of financial systems and ability to interpret and report on financial information.

- Experience in data analysis, gift processing, and donor acknowledgment; familiar with annual

fundraising cycle and common development terminology and needs.

- Knowledge of Google Workspace tools and Microsoft Office Suite.

- Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.

- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

- High professional and ethical standards for handling confidential information.

- Willingness to be a team player and member of the community.

- Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all constituencies of the School and demonstrate a

commitment to the mission of the School.

- Physical ability to climb stairs, as the School does not have elevators, and to lift small items of up to 20

pounds occasionally.

Salary and Benefits

This position is in-person four days per week at the school’s campus in Manhattan’s West Village and remote one day per week, with additional remote work possible during school vacations, as meets the needs of the office. The salary range for this position is $65,000-75,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
