Director, Development Services - Newton-Wellesley Hospital

The Development Office at Newton-Wellesley Hospital (NWH) seeks an experienced, strategic, pro-active, results-oriented professional to serve as Director, Development Services. This role will report to the Managing Director, Donor Engagement and Development Services and collaborate with a rapidly growing development team to oversee gift processing and gift administration, maintain data integrity, create systems for tracking and reporting on fundraising initiatives, and implement new policies and procedures as needed.

This position is responsible for translating business needs into reporting and analytics to enable Newton-Wellesley Development management and staff to increase fundraising results and productivity. This position is intimately familiar with the dynamics of Major Gift, Annual Giving, Special Events and Gift Planning fundraising operations and can match needs of these teams with technical solutions that leverage existing data sources and reporting tools.

Regular responsibilities include:
• Supervise the Senior Gift Processor.
• Manage the Blackbaud CRM database including clean-up, standardization of data entry and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the data.
• Oversee the systems and processes that support fundraising processes: gift acknowledgements, tax receipts, pledge reminders and ad-hoc mailings; provides data to support these programs and processes.
• Reconcile gifts with Finance monthly and provide Development team with monthly reports
• Establish, in partnership with development leadership and Mass General Brigham system standards, the best strategies for coding, tracking, and reporting of donor and gift data.
• Diagnose complex problems and identify creative solutions that improve the overall integrity and confidence in the donor database and seek ways to make data entry and data extraction easily understood and efficient.
• Serve as an integral member of the development team by participating in the planning and implementation of organizational achievement, metrics, campaign accounting and other office-wide initiatives and special projects.
• Design and implement a customer service system to manage data and project requests, providing a friendly, responsive, and efficient support for end users to triage all user support requests, meeting metrics for response and resolution time.
• Serves as primary liaison to Mass General Brigham Development office to coordinate CRM training, troubleshoot technical issues, ensure consistency in database standards and procedures, manage system upgrades, and participate in councils and user groups.
• Create progress and analysis reports, financial dashboards, and supplemental documents for leadership updates, board and committee meetings, and department meetings. Manage, track and report on fundraising campaigns.
• Create email and mailing lists for specific fundraising programs, direct mail appeals, event invitations, and communications initiatives. Create reports, queries and exports as needed for other projects.
• Contribute to the annual report and donor recognition process which includes donor lists and annual giving summaries.
• Contribute to the planning and implementation of a comprehensive prospect management program by developing models and utilizing data systems, including portfolio reviews, assessments, and strategy development.
• Responsible for tracking moves management activities and progress; and working with development officers to ensure the recording of all pertinent data in the Blackbaud CRM system.
• Provide strategic planning and support to increase operational efficiency and guarantee accurate accounting and reporting of donor and prospect data.
• Maintain data standards for prospect research and donor profiles, including wealth screening information.
• Assist with gift batch entry, acknowledgement and receipt processes, and other gift processing duties during peak times in the office and during absence of gift processor.
• Provide support for special events and on-site event support as needed. Help manage event and donor software systems such as Neon/Rallybound, GoFundMe, etc.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree and 7 years demonstrated success in fundraising database administration using Blackbaud CRM, The Raiser’s Edge or NXT. Supervisory experience preferred.

B. Job Knowledge/Skills
Criteria/Standards:
1. High proficiency in use and administration of Blackbaud CRM, Raiser’s Edge, or NXT. Experience designing complex queries and exports, analyzing data and principles of data integrity.
2. Proficiency in Excel including Pivot Tables, Macros, and PowerPivot with the ability to quickly learn and implement new software applications and technologies in database management. VBA and SQL skills a plus.
3. Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite of products.
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
5. Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize tasks and projects in a complex environment in accordance with departmental procedures and priorities.
6. Ability to evaluate user needs, requests, and problems and display sound judgment in designing solutions.
7. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
8. Demonstrated training skills to ensure proper use of the systems and reinforce protocols for consistent coding and data integrity.
