Fashion and Food

We all know that as Development staff, we represent our nonprofits to the public. We rarely post about soft skills, but they dominate our work and our career success. So I thought it might be fun to share some articles on food, fashion, and fun that, hey, is actually work-related. ?

Here's a couple of gems I ran across:

Dining etiquette guide, for taking donors out to eat: “In a restaurant, the guest of honor should sit in the best seat at the table. Usually that is one with the back of the chair to the wall.”

Fashion sense with a witty twist: Red is a power color; know when to use it. Wear bright red in situations where you want others to unconsciously see you as powerful—public testimonies, contract negotiations, meeting the Mayor, etc.—or when you know you will be eating enchiladas or pasta with tomato sauce for lunch.”

Your turn!

I was enjoying that article but the part about keeping org tees on hand for situations where you want to look formal but comfortable… like firing people. EEEK. haha (I also really enjoyed the PJ's for retreats. That's my kind of style, right there.)

OMG I got such a kick out of that article!!! “When attending community events, wear outfits with extra deep pockets. This will make it easier for you to carry home leftover hummus and raw veggies. It is also helpful to preemptively pack your pockets with reusable storage containers.”

Can you imagine sticking you hands into pockets full of hummus??? ?

Bold of them to think that our relationship with the caterer isn't at the stage where they pack up the leftovers for us to take back to the office to share lol.
