The Director of Major Gifts will play a key role in BC High’s upcoming comprehensive campaign by directing and growing the major gifts program. The Director will create strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors to maximize philanthropic revenue in support of BC High’s mission.

The incumbent will manage a portfolio of donors and prospects with a focus on the $10,000 - $50,000 gift range while building a robust pipeline of new major gift prospects. Under the guidance of the Senior Director of Campaign and Major Gifts, the Director will work closely with the Advancement leadership to increase 5-figure gifts during the campaign with a particular emphasis on significantly increasing the 1863 Society (gifts of $10,000+).

Primary Responsibilities:

* Model Advancement team values of collaboration, teamwork, professionalism, and mutual respect to build a culture of trust within a high performing team.

* Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of 250+ donors with a focus on gifts of $10,000 - $50,000, setting and meeting annual giving objectives for each prospect under management.

* Achieve annual fundraising goals as established with the Senior Director including donor retention, in person and virtual visits, solicitations, and dollars raised.

* Develop strategies for meaningful cultivation and solicitation of donors, collaborating with School and volunteer leadership, faculty, and colleagues as appropriate.

* In collaboration with Sr. Director and Advancement colleagues, identify new major gift prospects as well as identify leadership donors who are prospective major and/or planned giving prospects to increase pipelines at all levels.

* Under the guidance of the Sr. Director, create strategies to expand the school’s flagship 1863 Society with gifts of $10,000+

* Create written proposals or other materials as appropriate that meet donor and School objectives.

* Engage with BC High community to stay current on key happenings and the School’s strategic direction.

* Represent Advancement as needed at local, regional, and national Advancement events as well as institutional events; represent BC High at community events, as needed.

* Travel and weekend/evening work is required; other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor’s degree and 5-7 years of professional front-line fundraising experience with demonstrated success in meeting fundraising targets and securing annual gifts at the $10,000 - $50,000 level.

* Knowledge of industry best practices and demonstrated commitment to the profession.

* Exceptional writing, communication, interpersonal skills and a sense of humor are essential

* Strong proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, digital communication tools, and databases is required, proficiency in Raiser’s Edge fundraising software is preferred.

* Capability to work both independently and collaboratively across internal and external constituencies; coordinate multiple projects with high attention to organization and detail; and ability to travel and work outside of regular business hours, when necessary.
