About this position: The Development Assistant/Administrative Assistant reports to and support the Executive Director. This position will support all fundraising functions including appeals and grant applications, maintain the fundraising database – Raiser's Edge NXT and Raiser's Edge, write and post social media messaging, and provide general administrative support. About O'Neill Sea Odyssey: O'Neill Sea Odyssey engages 4th-6th grade youth with a watershed and science education field trip on a 65-foot catamaran sailing Monterey Bay, and in a shore-side education center, in addition to ocean curriculum provided for the classroom. The program is free, and each class of students complete a community service project. The program achieves science standards using ocean concepts while teaching youth about watersheds, and their responsibility to protect them. The organization's mission is to provide a hands-on educational experience to encourage the protection and preservation of our living sea and communities. OSO served its 100,000th student on September 27, 2018. The program was founded in 1996, and in December 2004 it received the California Governor's Environmental and Economic Leadership Award. Additional recognization includes a May 2005 Environmental Campion award from US Senator Barbara Boxer, and a 2013 Community Impact Award from the Silicon Valley Business Journal . In 2010, OSO was certified as a Green Business, and in 2016 worked with the City of Santa Cruz on re-certification.
