Specialist, Email Production @ZERO-The End of Prostate Cancer

ZERO is looking for someone who is interested in building relationships with the patients and families we serve through digital media. In today’s culture, many promotional emails are sent out every day, and as a result, a huge majority of those emails get overlooked. Therefore, it is the Specialist, Email Production’s responsibility to create emails that will catch our audience’s attention and interest in our efforts to eliminate prostate cancer. We are looking for someone with strong technical/coding skills and experience with content management systems who can help us keep our audiences engaged and help raise awareness of our work.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform end-to-end email campaign production including coding, proofing, targeting, and advanced scheduling of dynamic, personalized emails in HTML and CSS, managing/maintaining multiple campaigns within a deployment.
- Analyze delivery metrics and engagement data with an eye for optimizing audience segmentation.
- Work with teams across the organization to develop appropriate delivery schedules and balance outgoing traffic.
- Recommend content optimizations to maximize deliverability, conduct pre-deployment checks of links and potential spam triggers.
- Architect and execute A/B tests in e-blasts and report on test results.
- Troubleshoot HTML and revise code where necessary to render properly across multiple email clients, browsers, and mobile devices.
- Participate in Email Creative review meetings to ensure that email copy and design meet template specs and will render well across inbox providers and devices.
- Stay abreast of changes and advise team when the email template or guidelines need to be adjusted.
- Use email vendor’s reporting system to continually execute, monitor, and track email sends.
- Analyze and compile key learnings from email campaigns in order to optimize performance, KPIs, and conversions.
Desired Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Experience working within and learning new content management systems, including Wordpress and similar systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines with minimal oversight.
- A friendly personality with excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively across departments and teams.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Marketing, Advertising, or Communications, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, a candidate could have completed a boot camp in email production and coding or web development.
- Minimum of two years of production experience in email, including hand-coding content from mockups, ESP data tags, responsive/adaptive layout techniques, and full command of the restrictions (and solutions to) rendering consistent email across legacy email clients (Outlook 2003+).
- Minimum of two years of experience managing email campaign software, A/B testing, audience queries, and data analysis. Expertise in email best practices such as creative and coding for mobile vs. desktop, differences across inbox providers, and ability to identify likely content issues and propose alternatives.
- Minimum of two years of experience in HTML/CSS front-end web development with no reliance on WYSIWYG editing. Working understanding of conditional- and contextual-based logic as it applies to dynamic web pages.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with development frameworks such as: Foundation for Emails and MJML, Google email markup, and image optimization (i.e. image cropping/reformatting, TinyPNG/IMGmin/etc.).
- Experience with ESP-to-CRM integrations, graphic design programs (e.g. Photoshop), and templating frameworks (e.g. MJML, Foundation for Emails) a plus.
- Expertise in customer databases, relational database structure, data relationships, and import and export processes (especially Blackbaud Luminate Online and Raiser’s Edge).
- Knowledge of jQuery/Javascript, scripting languages, and/or deployment systems.
Physical Requirements:
- Constant use of a computer and other office productivity equipment, such as computer printer, calculator, and copier.
- Prolonged periods of a stationary position at least 50% of the time.
- The ability to recognize details at close range for extended periods of time.
- The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
