Financial Reporting & Analysis Manager
Holt’s Finance and Administration Department is dedicated to providing timely, relevant and accurate administrative, financial, human resource and technology services to Holt staff, families and constituents, ensuring a high level of integrity, effectiveness and efficiency for Holt’s work.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Holt International finds and supports permanent, loving families for children who are orphaned, abandoned or at serious risk of separation from their family. Holt’s child centered model of care provides services for vulnerable children to ensure they will grow and develop to their fullest potential.
The Financial Reporting & Analysis Manager is a member of Holt International’s Finance Department, and as such is responsible for all aspects of financial management of the country programs, working collaboratively with program management staff and international staff and partners to ensure compliance with Holt’s internal policies and procedures as well as donor regulations. S/he works under the direction of the Director of Accounting and is responsible for meeting program objectives by providing general financial, accounting, personnel and business management and support for international programs. The Financial Reporting & Analysis Manager also provides financial support for planned giving, investment activities and other Finance Department functions as needed.
The Financial Reporting & Analysis Manager utilizes experience in project management and the ability to communicate complex information with a diverse group of stakeholders to set goals and timelines that ensure financial resources are used efficiently and effectively.

S/he will be able to support programmatic objectives with timely and meaningful financial information, have a demonstrated ability to multi-task, and meet deadlines and process information in support of changing program activities. An impeccable professional standard of finance and procurement ethics and the willingness and ability to enforce compliance with Holt International policies and procedures is essential. The Financial Reporting & Analysis Manager must be willing to travel as needed to field offices.

Operations – Financial
- Assures international program activities are in compliance with financial policy and practice by managing financial activities of international program activities, including reviewing country financial reports, contracts, written communication, capital purchases, international travel, personnel issues and other significant activity.
- Assists international program activities to meet goals and objectives by resolving financial issues for HQ and field staff.
- Develop annual fiscal year budgets with the Team Leaders and other program staff and develops and implements grant budgeting and forecasting systems with Team Leaders.
- Assists in providing trained financial staff for field offices by assisting in recruiting and training field-office financial staff, including on site training and review.
- Document foreign financial transactions by preparing GL journals from monthly country financial reports.
- Maintains financial security by preparing and/or reviewing field office administrative and financial policies as well as monitoring for compliance.
- Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information from Holt field offices, Holt partner organizations, Holt accounting records and other information sources.
- Assists in planning for international program activities by preparing financial budgets, reviewing financial activity, and preparing forecasts from historical information, trends and estimated future events.
- Provides financial resources to field offices by arranging wire transfers of funds within budget and financial guidelines.
- Strives for Continuous Improvement with the accounting department and international programs to streamline and improve processes and reporting for all stakeholders.
- Protects organizational interests by negotiating and/or reviewing service and purchase contracts and leases.
- Assists in development of relevant management information by developing reporting systems and processes.
- Assures compliance with state laws concerning gift annuities by researching applicable state laws, preparing and filing registration and annual reporting documents, developing and monitoring gift annuity policy and practice, and maintaining appropriate accounting and reserve balances for outstanding gift annuities.
- Assists in securing charitable annuity contributions from donors by preparing gift annuity proposal packets for Director of Development - Planned Giving to present to interested donors. Prepares disbursements for gift annuitants and maintains schedules to support accounting transactions.
- Supports investment decision making by Preparing reports and analysis of mutual funds, certificates of deposit, bonds and other investments for review by Holt’s Finance Committee. Works with investment advisors to sell donated stocks and to implement Finance Committee decisions.
- Assures proper accounting for investments by monitoring receipt of investment income, preparing schedules for income recognition and preparing journals for posting to GL.
- Assists with preparation of schedules for the annual financial statement audit and IRS form 990 by gathering data and related information to complete audit work papers and tax return supporting documentation, tracking and documenting schedule of all information needed for audit and tax return in coordination with the Director of Accounting.
- Manages accounts receivable system by verifying transaction information, reviewing and posting AR invoice batches entered by accounting staff, directing maintenance of family AR files, scheduling timely preparation and distribution of monthly statements, preparing reports for Social Workers identifying delinquent accounts and insufficient payments.
- Verifies accuracy of adoption activity statistics by compiling, reviewing, verifying with accounting records, and reporting statistics of Adoption Services department activity as required for monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
- Contributes to preparation of monthly financial reports by preparing monthly report of restricted revenue, functional expenses and expenses by region for all country programs and other activities.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending training workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies.
- Maintains client confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB-EVALUATION DOCUMENTATION
KNOWLEDGE: Thorough knowledge of accounting and business principles and practices, especially relating to nonprofit organizations. Bachelor’s degree in business or related field and five years experience in accounting, business or financial position.
INFORMATION PROCESSING: Analyze financial accounts and reports for reasonableness and accuracy. Research and interpret relevant policies and regulations to maintain integrity of operations. Set priorities on work, construct correspondence and reports, research and analyze information for reports or inquiries, organize filing systems. Use of spreadsheet, word processing, accounting and other computer programs.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY: Prepare, recommend and implement policies and procedures. Ability to work independently. Ability to analyze problems and recommend solutions. Ability to train finance and administrative field staff. Ability to recommend and implement solutions for policy issues.
INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION: Ability to work well with other employees to obtain compliance with policies and achieve organizational goals and objectives. Ability to coordinate work with accounting staff to assure accurate and timely accounting information. Ability to exercise good judgment, courtesy, and tact in contacts with employees and the public. Ability to understand cultural differences and appropriately communicate with foreign staff and partners.
IMPACT OF RESULTS: Accurate and timely financial reports provide vital information to measure and manage international program activities. Monitoring the efficient use of resources in compliance with government regulations and laws provides donor security. Effective support of international program activities contributes to achieving goals and objectives.
WORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
This full-time position will be based in an office setting at Holt’s Eugene headquarters. Requires ability for limited (<10%) international travel to Holt’s partner agencies.
