Job Overview

The Office of Institutional Advancement seeks a Data Strategist to lead the coordination of multiple data sources and platforms, identify opportunities for cross-cutting initiatives, and lead and execute projects that inform fundraising and engagement strategy. The Data Strategist will take a global approach and examine our existing data, data collection, and data analysis with the ultimate goal of providing foresight for improving the donor and alumni experience and increasing Jefferson’s ability to connect with constituents effectively.

The Data Strategist will work closely with OIA teams to understand data needs and priorities, opportunities, and challenges to data collection and analysis across the full cycle of their work. The incumbent will take a global view of the department’s data collection and analysis efforts and translate big-picture priorities into actionable analytical solutions and insights, harnessing our full range of data tools, skills, and capabilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Business stategy and use case development to help drive OIA’s focus on strategic use of data to enhance organizational performance. Plan for change management and its impact across the organization.
  • Oversee comprehensive inventory of all platforms utilized throughout OIA; conduct review of new requests for additional platforms including how new platform will integrate with current platforms, return on investment, budget, resources needed to implement, etc.
  • Develop and serve as lead data and technology advocate for the cross-departmental technology committee for OIA.
  • Work with colleagues in central marketing, Finance, IS&T, and other campus partners on ways to share data and collaborate on mutually beneficial projects.
  • Develops strategy on implementingmetrics and ROI related to digital initiatives and assist department leaders with making adjustments based on those metrics.
  • Serve as business expert within the Information Management team. Collaborate closely with colleagues on the Information Management team to translate “the big-picture” and data analyses into actionable data output for OIA leadership. Help define new data segmentation, data structures and predictive modeling needed to move OIA’s data strategy forward.
  • Assist annual giving with testing related to messaging, segmentation and other aspects of direct mail and email solicitations to improve results and efficiencies.
  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with Jefferson’s values.

Qualifications

EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree and/or substantial professional expertise in data analytics, data science, and constituent management systems required.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

3 + years of experience in working with data, preferably in a fundraising or marketing setting

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Working knowledge of R, Python, SQL, etc. along with an understanding of AI and Machine Learning.
  • Prior exposure to data visualization tools (QlikSense, Tableau) and presentation skills for communicating complex technical concepts to business people at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to build rapport and trust with colleagues across an organization
