Development Assistant

Position Summary

North York Harvest Food Bank is looking for an experienced solution-based generalist to support in the cultivation and stewardship of current and prospective donors. With a vision of a community where all members are able to meet their food needs, the ideal candidate must be a team player with superior organizational skills, attention to detail and excellent customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support in the preparation and distribution of donor correspondence, including grant applications, sponsorship proposals, acknowledgements, and other promotional collateral.
  • Assist in donation and tax-receipting processing – ensure information related to donor accounts is accurate and up to date in Raiser’s Edge; this includes regular data entry of information to Raiser’s Edge.
  • Acquire and maintain sound knowledge and understanding of North York Harvest Food Bank, its programs and its priorities.
  • Other duties reasonably related to the position as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Experience as an administrative assistant (preferably with a fundraising organization) or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in using Constituent Relationship Management database (Raiser's Edge experience preferred).
  • Excellent project management skills and proven ability to set priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent written and communication skills.
  • Proven and highly effective professional interpersonal skills; good judgement, diplomacy, discretion, and service-oriented attitude.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and MailChimp.
  • Proven judgment and decision-making skills and ability to recognize when others need to be involved in activities or decisions. Able to be tactful, listen, and search out answers.

Terms

  • Permanent, full time – 37.5 hours per week (with the potential for evening/weekend work as required)
  • $34,506 – $46,684 per annum plus benefits
  • Training and professional development opportunities

Reporting Relationship

The Development Assistant reports to the Director of Development & Marketing
