Director of Annual Giving and Constituent Engagement
Summary
The Director of Annual Giving and Constituent Engagement will oversee the development of a multi-channel, relationship-oriented annual giving program focused on cultivating, soliciting, retaining, and acknowledging current and new donors. This position will also be responsible for devising and implementing Rectory’s strategy for fostering excellent constituent relations that will build and strengthen relationships between Rectory and its community in order to maximize parent, alumni and donor interest in, and engagement with, Rectory School.
Responsibilities:
- Create and manage a comprehensive fundraising plan for the Annual Fund.
- Set dollar, participation, and qualitative goals for the annual giving program.
- Create and manage a multidimensional appeal schedule that utilizes a variety of media (e.g., electronic solicitation, direct mail appeals, face-to-face solicitations) to communicate with potential and current donors.
- Oversee segmentation strategies and unique messaging for targeted cultivation and solicitation of donors and prospects.
- Engage alumni, parents and other constituents on the phone and in person.
- Work collaboratively with members of the Development Office to coordinate appropriate Annual Fund solicitations, including strategy and stewardship of donors and prospects.
- Work to assure high-quality stewardship for Annual Fund donors.
- Provide reports on Annual Fund performance, metrics, and statistics.
- Work with the Communications Department to plan and post relevant alumni updates, events, and important School news across social media platforms to keep alumni engaged (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc).
- Connect with alumni identified by faculty or research with interesting stories for use in communications efforts (Alumni Notes, social media, alumni features, Bell Tower Bulletin).
- Work with faculty/administrators to create engagement opportunities for alumni on campus.
- Invite identified alumni to campus for workshops, presentations, classroom speakers, and on-campus events.
- Create a yearly alumni outreach plan, including young alumni in high school and college.
- Identify mentorship opportunities and connect alumni with one another across geographic regions, class years, and industries.
- Attending on and off-campus events as needed.
- Oversee the recruitment, training, and stewardship of Annual Fund volunteers.
- Parent Fundraising Committee
- Recruit committee members for each fiscal year.
- Establish appeals and solicitations for the Parents & Past Parents.
- Work with members to solicit all eligible current and past parents.
- Develop and prepare all training materials.
- Facilitate and conduct volunteer training.
- Maintain detailed records of volunteer recruitment, management, and solicitation efforts.
- Parent Fundraising Committee
Experience
- Knowledge of development/fundraising concepts and corresponding mass solicitation and donor stewardship techniques.
- Strong interpersonal/human relations skills.
- Led or supported a giving day or another large-scale fundraising activity.
- Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of constituents.
- Knowledge of the Independent School sector a plus.
- Experience working with CRM databases, ideally Raiser’s Edge.
- Results-oriented, with excellent organizational and project management skills.
- A team player who thrives on working with others to achieve targets.
