Data Systems Manager

Position Overview

As a member of the technology team, the Data Systems Manager is responsible for managing the school’s data and data systems. The data systems are an integral part of the school’s operations and are used to manage student records, student learning systems, operational processes and communications to students and parents. As a collaborative and supportive staff member, the Data Systems Manager will understand the work to support the mission and guiding principles of Graland Country Day School.

Reports to:​ Director of Technology

Terms: ​Full-time, exempt, 12-month position, hybrid flexible work arrangement possible depending on needs. (M,W,F on location)

Job Responsibilities

The following list is not comprehensive but serves as a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities.

Data Management

  • Ensure that key data integrates between all systems including major systems such as Blackbaud student information systems, learning management, enrollment management, website, Raiser’s Edge fundraising system, BrightArrow emergency communications and School Pass visitor management system.
  • Assess how data decisions and implementation of new software or functions affect all users across all systems.
  • Ensure data integrity within and between all systems.
  • Manage end-of-year processing to get systems ready for the next school year.
  • Manage technology vendor relationships in conjunction with the Director of Technology.

Project Management

  • Manage projects and project teams as they relate to data structure, workflow and software implementation to ensure data integrity and use of best practices.
  • Develop and maintain an annual project plan for meeting key data milestones throughout the year such as updating student class schedules, assisting teachers with report cards, advancing students to the next grade level, assisting admissions with annual enrollment of students and other milestones.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Technology to ensure data systems are compatible with our technology infrastructure.

Training & Research

  • Provide training to the faculty and staff on the user experience of systems and how to best use the system’s functionality to achieve the school’s goals and meet ever-changing needs.
  • Research software enhancements, understand how they may impact operations and train and communicate these enhancements to the rest of the organization.
  • Research new software products that may better meet the needs of the school.

Community Support

  • Answer technology support questions from Graland parents, reset passwords or redirecting questions to technology vendors.
  • Actively participate in the school community and assist with other duties such as carline, recess monitoring and others that help maintain the safety and security of the school.
  • Actively support the different users of the school.

Qualifications

The next Data Systems Manager at Graland Country Day will:

  • Possess a Bachelor of Arts degree or technical training in database theory.
  • Have five years of experience in database management.
  • Blackbaud data systems experience preferred
  • Understand database purpose and structure.
  • Ability to assess operational processes and create efficiencies.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Provide great customer service
  • Ability to understand complex challenges and how to leverage technology and data systems to address these challenges.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience. Salary is between $68,000 and $85,000. Benefits include professional development, employer-paid health, vision, dental and life insurance, vacation, sick and personal time off, as well as participation in a retirement plan. Daily free lunch, access to an on-campus workout facility and opportunities based on availability for subsidized on-site child care.
