Development Coordinator - Neuroendocrine Tumor Research Foundation in Boston, MA
The Neuroendocrine Tumor Research Foundation (NETRF) seeks an energetic, passionate, mission-driven colleague to join a committed group of professionals focused on impacting the battle against an uncommon cancer. As a vital member of the team, the Development Coordinator champions the day-to-day operations of a successful fundraising program, including donor/customer relationship management (CRM), prospect research, financial reporting, and event support. This position is a hybrid with travel to NETRF’s Boston headquarters and key NETRF events.

The mission of the Neuroendocrine Tumor Research Foundation is to fund research to discover cures and more effective treatments for neuroendocrine cancers. To achieve rapid discovery of cures, NETRF directs its donations to fund breakthroughs in the scientific research of neuroendocrine cancers. NETRF is committed to improving the lives of patients, families, and caregivers affected by neuroendocrine cancer by providing information and educational resources. Since its founding in 2005, NETRF is the largest private funder of NET research, having awarded more than $34 million in research grants to leading scientists at renowned institutions around the world.
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Chief Development Officer and working in concert with the CEO, Director of Marketing, and others, the Development Coordinator carries out the following responsibilities:
- Manage Raiser’s Edge database, including but not limited to maintaining data integrity, integrating and managing mailing lists, overseeing constituent queries/reports, creating new records, merging duplicate records and system upgrading.
- Gift Processing: handle the processing and entering of all gifts via mail, online, credit card and stock gifts, creating new gift pledges, scheduling pledge payments, making timely deposits, providing updates to the Stewardship Action List.
- Thank You and Tribute Acknowledgement Process: oversee all gift thank you and tribute acknowledgement letters in a timely fashion including tribute updates mailed to family
members. Refresh gift acknowledgment letters for online giving and other mailings on a regular basis;
- Fundraising Financial Reporting, work with ChiefDevelopment Officer (CDO), CEO, accountants and auditors to reconcile fundraising reports on a monthly basis. Provide reconciled, quarterly reports for key major gifts. Generate financial reports for CDO and staff; generate reports for Board and Committee meetings;
- Direct Mail Appeals: participate in all annual appeals, producing mailing lists, letter personalization, segmented solicitation lists, letter appeals and gift tracking;
- Prospect Research: work with CDO on crafting donor/prospect profile information through iWave research and other search tools;
- Event and administrative support: work closely with CEO and CDO on various tasks such as scheduling key meetings, and managing inventory of development collateral and supplies;
- Assist the CDO, CEO, and other staff with other duties as deemed necessary.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate is a dynamic, detailed, focused contributor, thoughtful communicator (written/oral), and problem solver, who is well-organized and able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks. This individual enjoys being an active member of a team advancing an impactful mission with energy and a sense of urgency. Key criteria include:
- Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of relevant experience, preferably in a non-profit environment.
- Experience with database management, ideally with Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge/NXT software, including processing, running financial reports, creating queries and other RE functions.
- Familiarity with fundraising principles and practices;
- Strong communications and interpersonal skills to interact professionally and effectively with colleagues, Board members, donors, patients, caregivers and vendors.
- Proficient in PC, Microsoft Office/Google Suite, including Excel and Word; Canva and email platforms such as Emma, a plus.
- High level of confidentiality and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential information;
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
