2023 BBCon Proposal to my boss

Hi there, anyone have an idea of what past in-person BBCon conference registration costs have been to attend? I've only been to one before, and it was so long ago I have forgotten. I'm putting together a budget proposal to my boss, and it would be great to at least have a range for the proposal. Thank you in advance for helping me out! @Heather MacKenzie Obviously travel expenses will vary, but my last bbcon in 2014 (I thought I had been to one since, but obviously not) cost about $2000 after everything was paid for. That includes all my travel (airfare, transportation to the hotel and venue, as well as parking at the airport), registration, lodging, and daily per diem.

Just for reference, I traveled from Savannah GA to Nashville TN, so it wasn't a cross country flight.

@Heather MacKenzie I've been to many of these in person and at various locations. I would say the average has been about $2,000, give or take a few hundred. That includes everything from registration to transportation, flights, hotels, and meals.

@Heather MacKenzie The last time I attended in person was 2107 and it was $850. Wouldn't be surprised if it's $1,000 or more this year. ?

Having just had a look at the cost of flights from the UK and hotel accommodation, I'm wondering if UK BBcon will be back

@Heather MacKenzie it appears bbcon is in Denver in October this year. Depending where you are traveling from, the cost of hotels (typically the conference is at the Gaylord) and the general price of food and transportation when arriving to Denver.

The letter provides an overview of bbcon, a summary of what you can expect to learn at the conference, and an opportunity to include estimate costs associated with your travel and attending the conference. This will be available on bbconference.com following the launch of open registration in the coming months!”

If you are still trying to put together a proposal on this @Heather MacKenzie, I'd consider possibly submitting a proposal for a session. Having a session at bbcon will allow you to at least have your registration paid for. It also makes it easier to have the budget to go, if you only have to worry about travel expenses and food. As a green ninja, I'm sure your expertise would be very welcome.

@Crystal Bruce any chance the justification letter template could be available before registration opens? People need to start convincing bosses now, not then.

@Heather MacKenzie you can access the hotels available to estimate lodging pricing; I went to an airline site to estimate travel cost.
