When I bought my first house, I was a single female and had been apartment-living for the better part of 25 years. One of the first pieces of advice I received was, you need to get yourself an electric drill, a good set of screwdrivers, a hammer, a wrench, and pliers.

Actually, I believe I was told, tools are a girl’s best friend.

I’m unsure if the tools I purchased ever truly became my best friends, but having a toolkit at the ready when I needed to put together an entertainment center or hang a picture on the wall proved to be very helpful!
