Puzzle-ing Pieces

We’ve all done a jigsaw puzzle, right? Five hundred or one thousand pieces cut into interlocking shapes that ultimately come together as a lovely picture … a common pastime for so many. Did you know that the first jigsaw puzzle was thought to be produced around 1760? The idea that society has been enjoying the assembly of interesting interlocking shapes for over 250 years is mind boggling!

Even if you’re not an avid puzzler, if you’re struggling to try and fit together the financial statement pieces in Financial Edge NXT, then getting to know chart organizers is vital. It’s important to understand how chart organizers interlock with financial statements. If you’ve never used a chart organizer before, think of it as a template for specific reporting. Your board of directors needs to see expenses grouped in a very specific manner? No problem. A chart organizer can do that!

Ask yourself some questions. When producing a balance sheet or income statement, which chart organizer do you select? What level do you report at, and what other options can be selected to create the perfect report for your audience? What options do you have when it comes time to publish your financial statements? Can you save your selections for use on a monthly basis?
