Business Office Associate/Bookkeeper

Florida Studio Theatre, a LORT D regional theatre in Sarasota, FL seeks a Business Office Associate/Bookkeeper. This candidate must have knowledge of and experience in non-profit organizations.

Reporting to the Director of Finance and working closely with Managing Director.

We are seeking a candidate with not-for-profit financial experience who brings a can-do, entrepreneurial, and enthusiastic disposition to the job. Theatre experience is a plus!

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Financial Processing, Reconciliation & Reporting
    • Reconcile daily cash, deposit checks, post GL entries, review/post Restaurant reports, update credit card fees, review credit card disputes, move prepaid expenses/income to current, post intercompany transfers, enter Bulk Mail, and oversee cash handling with the Business Office Assistant.
    • Review invoice coding and monthly financials, compile and distribute monthly Department and Board reports, and create/file monthly sales tax and tourist development tax.
  • Payroll & Payment Administration
    • Prepare Actor payroll and post payroll entries; create payments for commissions, royalties, stipends, and Intern stipend reports; set up ACH payments; pay online vendors, cut checks, pay credit card statements, positive pay checks with banks, and manage the 1099 process.
  • Audit, Compliance & Business Support
    • Assist the Finance Director with the annual audit, surveys, and compliance reports; maintain check log; order and maintain office supplies; act as Key Financial Edge Operator; and perform other Business Office duties as needed.

The ideal candidate has:

  • Experience and understanding of Accounts Payable.
  • Experience in Blackbaud’s Financial Edge NXT
  • Experience in Tessitura
  • Experience in ADP
  • Experience with Union payroll.
  • The ability to think critically and meet deadlines.
  • Theatre experience is a plus.

Salary range: $50,000-$60,000
