The Carver Inc, located in Norwalk CT is hiring for an Accounting Manager who has Blackbaud NXT experience.
Position Overview
The Carver is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Manager to join our team. The Accounting Manager will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, streamlining workflows, and supporting a dynamic team.

We operate 60+ before-school, after-school, and summer programs in K-12 public schools across Norwalk, Side by Side Charter School, the Classical Studies Magnet Academy in Bridgeport, and the Carver Community Center.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee Accounts Payable, including processing vendor invoices and preparing checks.
- Handle day to day banking & cash management.
- Manage credit card journal entries and reconciliations.
- Ensure accurate balance sheet reconciliations including fixed assets, prepaid expenses, accounts receivable and accruals.
- Maintain general ledger, including subsidiary schedules preparation with proper supporting documentation, and preparation of monthly and year-end journal entries
- Complete accurate and timely monthly financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and budget to actual reports
- Review bi-weekly payroll processing with a focus on ensuring personnel expenses are being allocated to the proper programs per the annual budget and government contracts
- Collaborate with the development team to align financial reporting with grant and contract requirements.
- Coordinate and support annual audit and IRS Filings.
- Develop, maintain and enforce accounting policies, procedures and internal controls to support compliance and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years GAAP accounting experience
- Experience with Blackbaud NXT or similar accounting software.
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong math and research skills.

Salary: $68,000 to $73,000 Commensurate with experience.
