It has been a long string of cold winter months in my home state of Michigan, and things have been bleak around here lately, but when I returned home yesterday after an unpleasant doctor's appointment, I found my lilac bush had unexpectedly burst into bloom and it brightened my whole outlook—I even brought a clipping to a friend that's been down in the dumps, the fragrance was so uplifting!
