AI-Powered Functionality: What’s Coming Next + Looking Ahead

In the roadmap “horizons” view, we highlighted AI powered functionality” as part of the forward path. 

Here are the AI-forward innovations specifically called out:

1) Smarter, More Scalable Reviews — with Humans Still in Control

The roadmap includes Reviewer Portal enhancements, and we shared an explicit principle: AI supports consistency and efficiency, while grant teams keep control of criteria and final decisions.

Review is one of the most time‑intensive parts of grantmaking. The direction here is clear—reduce staff time and improve consistency, without removing the funder’s judgment. 

2) AI-Generated Impact Insights from Approved Reports

We also previewed Impact Intelligence as a “Looking Ahead” innovation. It turns approved grantee reports into real-time, AI-generated impact insights so funders can prove outcomes, track progress, and tell their impact story more effortlessly. 

Customers will get executive-ready real-time impact metrics with AI-powered insights derived from submitted and approved grantee reports, with trend tracking and a single dashboard view across programs.

This means less manual synthesis and more clarity—especially when leadership asks, “What did our funding actually change?”

3) Clearer Progress Visibility, Earlier and Without the Scramble

Under “Coming Next” for actionable insights, we shared Progress reports at a glance, —positioned as instant visibility into what’s submitted, approved, and what’s next, plus built-in awareness of what’s upcoming/due soon

AI gets dramatically more valuable when systems share context. That’s why the roadmap also spotlighted Blackbaud Grantmaking and Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT® integration as a key “Coming Next” item. You can expect:
