The Tag Following feature allows you to follow Tags so you can follow Tags and receive in‑app and/or email notifications about new posts that use those Tags.

Following your favorite Tags makes it easy to keep up with topics and products you care about, without having to follow entire Categories.

Follow a Tag

You can follow Tags from the discussions area of your product page or in search results.

Following a Tag (and unfollowing one) is accomplished within Tag Cards.

  1. Click a Tag to open its Tag Card.
  2. Click Follow.

TIP: In the Tag Card, you can view the Tag's associated content via the Posts button.

This action:

  • Starts tracking the Tag as followed, and
  • Adds the Tag to your Followed Content page, on the Tags tab.

Followed Content page

Any Tags you follow are added to your profile’s Followed Content page, on the Tags tab.

On this tab, you can:

  • See which Tags you’re currently following
  • Update notification options for each Tag
  • Unfollow Tags you’re no longer interested in

Notification preferences

To manage whether or not to receive notifications from Tags you've followed, and which types of notifications, click its bell icon (reference the image above).

  • Notify me of new posts: This refers to all new posts using the Tag, which includes discussions, questions, ideas, etc. Check the boxes to control whether you'll receive notifications. Each Type is explained below.
  • Unfollow Tag: If you’re already following a Tag, you can click Unfollow Tag at any time to disable all notifications and remove it from your list of Followed Tags.

Notification types

When setting your Tag notification preferences, you can control the type of notification received via the the bell and/or email boxes.

  • Check the bell icon boxes to receive near real-time popups directly in the community (at the bottom left of your screen) AND messages in your Notifications Panel.
  • Check the email icon boxes to have emails sent to your personal inbox. Keep in mind this option sends a separate email for each new post/comment using the Tag, which can result in numerous emails, so it's generally only recommended for Tags in which you're heavily invested or interested in.

Set your default notification preferences

From your profile, you can set default Tag notification preferences that will automatically be applied whenever you follow a new Tag. While you're still free to update these defaults later, from your Followed Content page, they save time if you typically choose the same options for every Tag you follow.

To set your default Tag notification preferences:

    1. In‑app notifications (bell),
    2. Email notifications (envelope),
    3. or both.

Unsubscribe from Tag email notifications

Tag-based email notifications include an Unsubscribe link at the bottom of the message.

When you click this link:

  1. You are immediately unsubscribed from that specific Tag, meaning you'll no longer receive email notification from that Tag's content moving forward.
  2. You are taken to the standard Unsubscribe page, which shows why you received that notification, such as:
    • You bookmarked this content
    • You are following the category
    • You are following the user
    • You are following this tag

From this page, you can:

  • Undo the unsubscribe if you clicked the link by mistake.
  • Adjust other related notification “reasons” at the same time (where available).
