In our recent webinar, “What’s New in Blackbaud Grantmaking™: A Hands-On Tour of the Latest Grantee Portal Enhancements,” grant managers asked thoughtful, practical questions about how these updates fit into everyday workflows.

From managing reporting requirements to preparing for the Applicant and Grantee Portal transition, your questions highlight a shared goal: making grantmaking more efficient, flexible, and intuitive for both funders and grantees.

Below, we’ve grouped the most common questions into one easy-to-scan FAQ to help guide your next steps.

Note: If you are a newer customer and you began using the product on the new Applicant and Grantee Portal, you will not need to transition. If unsure, please connect with your customer success manager or support line.

Getting Started & Impact

Will this affect what I do today if my process is simple?

If you’re primarily using Blackbaud Grantmaking to track requests and payments—and not using online applications or requirements—you can continue working as you do today.

If you are currently using online applications, you will need to take steps to transition.

If you are a newer customer, you may have started out using the new version so there is no transition needed. If you are unsure, please contact your customer success manager or the support team to confirm.

Requirements & Reporting

How do requirements and due dates work in the new portal?

Requirements are now managed through a more structured workflow, helping ensure that grantees receive and complete forms in a consistent way. This may change how you think about timing and sequencing, but it’s designed to create a clearer experience for both funders and applicants.

To understand how publishing works, see:

Do we still need separate forms for each report (Year 1, Year 2, etc.)?

Not necessarily. New capabilities make it easier to reuse forms across reporting cycles and manage multiple submissions within a single workflow.

Many organizations will be able to reduce the number of forms they create while still maintaining flexibility in how reporting is structured.

Forms & Workflows

How does form reuse and multi-response work?

Forms can now support multiple submissions, which allows you to streamline reporting workflows without creating duplicate versions. This is especially helpful for managing ongoing or multi-year reporting.

Multiple response fields (Help article)

Will previous responses carry over between reports?

In some cases, yes, fields may pre-populate across submissions. This can be helpful for continuity, but you may choose to adjust your form design depending on how you want grantees to interact with each report.

Portal Transition

Will we still be able to access the original Applicant and Grantee Portal (Also known as IGAM) after the cutoff?

No. The original portal will be fully decommissioned on the planned timeline and replaced by the new portal.

If there are forms or data you need to retain, be sure to export them ahead of time. Any information already in Blackbaud Grantmaking will remain available and unaffected.

Find out more here:
IGAM decommissioning details (Knowledgebase)

What happens to data already in Grantmaking?

There is no impact to data already collected within your Blackbaud Grantmaking database. It will remain secure and accessible.

This only applies to applicants’ submission and requirements data, which they can export themselves or you can export on their behalf as the account administrator.

Product Gaps & Feedback

Why can’t I do certain things yet (like sort columns or see specific fields)?

Several of you called out features that aren’t currently available but would improve your experience. These insights are actively shared with our product team and help inform future updates.

How can I suggest improvements?

If you have ideas or requests, we encourage you to share them through the Ideas portal. Customer feedback plays a key role in shaping what comes next.

Grantee Experience

How will this impact my grantees? (Only applicable to transitioning clients)

Many of the enhancements are focused on improving the grantee experience—making it easier to understand what’s required, when it’s due, and how to complete it.

A more intuitive experience for grantees often means fewer questions and less follow-up for your team.
